1. I'm looking for a gunsmith who can increase the LEADE a bit on my new Stainless Springfield Armory 1911 barrel. Someone I can send the barrel to, have it done affordably and quickly Thanks Derek
2. I stopped by the hardware store on the way home from work, got a fresh propane bottle. tried heat tried right to left, and left to right. solid bench, heavy vice with hardwood and masking tape padding. it would not come out. I took a saw and carefully cut it from side to side, almost to the bottom. flipped the slide upside-down, and hit the rear of the sight once with a puch, lifting the rear. Only then, ,was I able to tap it out
3. I've been trying to remove the rear sight on my new GARRISON. I've soaked it in KROIL for days. Placed it firmly in a vice and worn out brass punches trying to move it with a heavy hammer. I tried freezing it I tried freezing it, and warming the slide with a heat gun. with the slide pointed downrange, I am trying to move it from left to right. I'm about to carefully make a cut from side to side. I'm afraid to try a torch, I don't want to ruin the pretty blue finish. Any ideas ?
4. I cut out some tabs from a bright pink plastic notebook binder. easy to see. easy to grab breast cancer awareness
5. I can't help but wonder, if the redesigned primer system was driven by liability and rumor or 650 primer kabooms. My 650 is several years old, and primes more reliably than my 550b Watching the way some you-tubers slam the machine up & down, I don't blame Dillon. ...I plan on keeping my 650 for a long time.
6. I've had the 550b and XL650 for several years. I think the XL650 primer system is MUCH better than the 550 At this point, I plan on keeping my trusty beloved XL650
7. yep, I remember that, 2007 IIRC Rolla Mo
8. Older data showed hotter 2400 loads. There is a guy on the cast bullets forum that tested old vs. new 2400 and found it the same. Elmer Kieth used 15.3grs 2400 with a 158gr John Taffin says 14-15gr with a gas checked 158 speer #8 shows 15.5gr My speer #10 book shows a max of 15.9gr speer #12 drops to 12.5 current Sierra 5th still shows 15.0gr I have worked up 158gr cast/coated to 15.8gr without any signs of pressure. 1364fps 5" 686 this is in a 686 dash 4 velocity is higher than max 110/296 loads and cases extract with ease. This load does have sticky extraction from my rossi 1892 levergun. I typically load them to 15grs 2400 / 158gr hardcast 14.7gr = 1275fps 158br MBC SWC
9. should I replace my M&P with a M&P 2.0 ? My original shoots well, and is very reliable. APEX stuff inside. what do I gain by getting a new 2.0 ? thanks Derek
10. Looks like the lancer is heavier than the Midwest Ind. LW MLOK, and I suspect the JP is a bit heavier than the Lancer. I've had my JP for a long time. It's VERY solid The Lancer sure looks the same...
11. That is the one I was thinking of thanks. emailed and got this reply.... ",,, Hi Derek, Thank you for contacting us. While they are similar, our LCR5 tubes would not be interchangeable with the JP. Please, let us know if you have any, other questions. Best Regards, Dan...."
12. Wasn't somebody making a CARBON FIBER tube that fit the JP handguards ? Like these.....
