Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I tried some TC bullets that a friend uses... Extreme keyholing in my targets.. if they even hit... at 15 yards... They just didn't work :<
  2. I used Ghost Stinger for my CZ SP01 Shadow and enjoyed it fully. I am using a Ghost - The One for both my Open and Standard SVI (same holster, just adjust it for barrel length). I would check out the Ghost Hybrid for SVI/STI as it seem per default take full length dustcovers on all models and according to the information: "GHOST uses a premium unbreakable Techno Polymer that can be thermoformed to fit your pistol design, and allows you to customize the retention of your draw." Why not send a mail to Ghost USA and ask them? My stinger holster worked flawlessly and always kept my Shadow snugg enough when running, and still have a smooth draw with just enough retention.
  3. This was the one for sale in Norway? If your going to Midnight Sun shoot in Narvik I might have to take a look at it
  4. Not sure, both my bigsticks are SPS mags (and quite old at that, only takes 24rnds), but they work without a problem. I can check with my clubmate who runs STI with STI bigsticks, and see how they work, but that could be a few weeks out.
  5. As I spent the 2015 just shooting Open Division in quite alot of matches, in total probably 42 Level III stages, and 60+ Level II, when the season ended I felt it was time to update the old beast - Heresy, I know! Either way, a friend was over to the states for work, so I ordered a new steel grip for the frame after consulting with the guys and gals over at SVI and a months or so later it was back in my firm Vikingish - Swedish hands. Fitment was really easy, a testament to the things SVI manufactures - 20 year old frame, grip manufactured a month ago, no biggie, just a bit time consuming. I also swaped out some older internal bits that felt like it was time since I had run at least 3000 Open+ through it during the season. First it was time to strip it, probably for the first time in ages. Thanks to excellent videos made by Mats "Dalmas" Backstrom, a Swedish team Inifinty shooter it was a breeze. I spent a full night just making it clean and shiny again. I borrowed a huge set of tools from the mechanical shop at work and started working on the fitment. This took about 3 days since I used very fine filing tools, rather bad too remove to much material. A black marker was an excellent way to see where more material needed to be removed. Have about a metric ton of these pictures so one is more then enough. ...And then everything went back into place Trigger & Reset as short and crisp as before, everything working as intended. After a quick visit to the range, the added weight vs the old plastic grip was an improvment. Despite defiling a rare piece of history, I see it as a upgrade totally worth it. Also, it felt alone in my gunsafe so I had to get him a buddy... A 5" SVI Sight tracker in 9x19, just because two is more fun then one! Looking forward to this season to really start ^^
  6. My gun was built for .38 super, but I have a second 9x19 barrel aswell that was fitted to the same slide by the smith at Springfield. I shoot .38 super most of the time though.
  7. First day and Stage 18 at EEO 2015 was the worst (And probably the funniest to watch if you happend to be in my Squad). Medium course, min round 20. Gun unloaded on table with the magazines you needed to shoot. So I put down a bigstick and a 22 rnder on the table. Loading and snaping the 22er to my magnet, smooth as hell, shot the first targets, ran to the second position, a low port in wall - bang bang bang - click... something was wrong. My brain thought aw yes, just dump the Magazine, rack, in with a new - rack - go bang. So far so good, two more targets shot, and then my brain then kicked back into my initial stageplan - change magazine. So there I was running back and forth to get my bigstick, and pretty much everything from there on was just a Benny Hill sketch, all that was missing was the Music. I Think the fastest time was something around 13s, I clocked in at 48+... There might even be a video of it where you can hear my part frustrated part angry at myself state "Well that was a huge waste of time!" in the end... Then again, I plan better now, and my brain can handle screwups better now.
  8. The Tanfo openguns also have a bunch of poppy holes, the guys in the club loads their 9x19 insanly hot to get them to shoot flat as it takes tons of gas. I have 9 ports in my comp on the old Leatham 1, and I need so much gas to get it to be flat it is. I just started reloading and getting into that whole bit, but I will probably run about 9.4-9.7gr of n105 with 124gr bullets for .38 super, just got get it flatter.
  9. I have shot Open only this year, and it is diffrent, a lot diffrent then shooting production or standard. I like it however, but it is far from easy. I find it thougher to shoot then prod/standard, and I have gone to alot of matches this year, mostly level III matches to learn alot about the gun and about myself. Having a reddot does not make things easier as you need to be faster and more confident about shots. I have not been to a match this year where my gun has worked flawless which is another point. With my shadow I belive I never had a singel issue what so ever, with my Open gun, so far no match has been free from trouble. Then again.. I do need to rebuild all my magazines with new springs and followers as I belive they have never been replaced during their 18 year lifetime
  10. Under Rule 5.3 - Appropriate Dress, Rule 5.3.1 states that camoflauge or similar types of military or police garments other then by competitiors who are law enforcement or military personell is discouraged. I have no problem with these rulse at all, however I have seen alot of digital camo on guns in Standard and Open division. Also on some rifles and shotguns, and even on CZ official team cloathing. Have tried searching around the web but has not found anything clear on the matter.
  11. Depending on match. I tend to pack peanuts and a powerbar and something to drink... The match at Euro Extreme Open this year was super hot... third and last day it was 40c in the shades (104F for you yankees =) ) That day I drank easily 6 liters of water filled with resorb during the 10 stages we shot. Last weekend at Midnight Sun Shoot in Setermoen Norway, I drank about 1/2 liter becuse it was so cold
  12. I have all the options to choose between 9mm and .38 when it comes to shooting Open - as I have a barrel for each fitted for my slide and my magazines runs with both (well... perhaps two sticks are giving med issues sometimes with 9x19, anyhow..), but I like the .38 super more then I like the 9mm. Have a few Tanfo gold matches in my club, and they have to load the crap out of their 9x19 to get the right amount of gas for the comp AND the ported barrels. I might however train with some 9mm loads, becuse it is a bit more jumpy in my gun, and I get to work on my grip some more, as the .38 is just overall nicer. Scientific? Nah, not a bit, go for what you like, for me when to comes to Open and hitting major PF its .38

    CZ 75 M IPSC

A clubmate runs one of these, and it is indeed the model that later became the TS. It runs very nice, and for the buck he paid it was a great purchase - except for the fact that .40 is not found in abunance here in Sweden.
  14. @Zhunter & @MRevolitionIX (btw, nice handle, I used to own a Evo 6 GSR ).. If lived in the US with the salery I have now considering your prices on most things and guns in perticular... My house would be swamped with CZ, SVI etc etc... My gunsafe would probably be larger then my house :|
  15. I my club there is few CZ's, being only 2 (me and another guy). Glocks are still fairly common, but the Rising trend is Tanfoglios... lots and lots of tanfos... And I have not been 100% true to CZ this season :| I have been shooting alot with my SVI/Springfield in Open :<
