Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Ok, need to edit my previous post but can't. He's got the upgraded part on the way. Just needed more patience. Please disregard my previous post.
  2. Little frustrated with snowshooze at the moment. His primer stop is a cool as hell invention. It's premise is awesome an works really well.. about 99% of the time. I'm getting a few times each batch where the primer arm pops it into the off position and I end up with a shell plate full of N320. I messaged him that the detent wasn't holding it in consistently. He mentioned he'd changed to a dual detent setup. (I asked when, as I'd just bought mine a few days before.) He went dark. No replies to three messages. So.. if you go down this route, I'd make sure he's shipping you the updated version.
  3. You might have better luck with your xmark triggers than I do, but almost all of mine are sitting in a box. I couldn't adjust any of them below 4#. Not bad for a hunting rifle, but not great for little groups either. The magpul stock is better than the factory, but not as good as a grayboe, mcmillian or chassis system. Shoots about as well as a B&C stock with the barrel floated. All my older 700s with new triggers and stocks were sub 1" guns, even with factory barrels. The last one I bought a couple of years back is in now in a magpul stock with the xmark and I can't get sub 1" in it, even with tailored loads. If you just want a shooter without dreams of going custom, there are better. If this is a foundation to build from, a 700 action getting trued is only slightly cheaper than getting a real custom action out of the gate, and the custom will be 10x slicker, smoother and better machined than the 700. I'm only building off 700s to use up existing actions. Without that sunk cost, I'd never be spending the money on one as a base.
  4. For a shot based on showing up, taking the shot and walking away.. PRS shooter. For anything that is physically demanding, under adverse conditions, .mil shooter. I learned my lesson at LRI. Rain is pouring down, weather sucks, most of the hobbyist shooters were off their game, all the guys that were marine snipers shrugged it off. If toughness needs to be factored into having a clean shot when everything around you sucks.
  5. Don't feel too bad. I did something similar on Match #6. Classifier 13-08. Two shots in each of three targets, reload, two shots in the remaining three. Virginia count. I brain farted the reload, double shot target #4. Realized my mistake, did my reload, then put two in each of the remaining 3. Big.. Fat... Zero.
  6. I love mine. Absolutely love it. I haven't gotten to play with one with anything other than the factory trigger setup, but even with a lot of take up, it's a great shooter. Other than my CZ Custom SP01, I've never shot a pistol that well out of the box. I can't imagine how well it will run after CZC gets it to do some trigger work. It's jam proof. I ran some super light hand loads, no issue. I ran strong +p self defense ammo, no issues. I ran cheap factory white box... no issues. Just by chance, I bought a new Gen 3 Glock 17 within a few months of getting my P09. The P09 was cheaper, had better sights out of the box, and a softer trigger pull SA. It also was flawless and worked out of the box. I spent weeks trying to get that Glock to run before it ended up going back to the factory for fixing. (Sad that an out of the box brand new pistol can have ejection problems.) I like Glocks, but #11 was a lemon. My guess is that it's the mag issue that's holding it back. As soon as Mec Gar starts cranking them out at a better price point, my guess is it will do well. Heck, if I knew someone starting up steel or USPSA and needed to do it on a budget, you'd be hard pressed to find a better sub $500 gun.
  7. I really like the plated mags with the springer pads. I think they turned out pretty well.
  8. I walked into my local shop (Phoenix) and found over 20 pounds of bullseye sitting on the shelf. I picked up some VV last week as well. It's coming back... slowly.
  9. I had a Dillon 9mm die back out on my 650, just far enough that it wasn't sizing the bases well, but was still far enough in that it was knocking loose the spent primers. I didn't pick up on this until I saw an increase in the number that failed in the double alpha 20 pocket gauge. Crazy thing is, all those rounds that failed could still pass the dillon gauge. If it fits smooth and easily into the double alpha, it goes in the match box. If it fails the double alpha but comes up fine on the dillon, it goes in the practice box. If it fails the the dillon, it goes to the junk jar.
  10. It's a solid idea, but there is a detail I left out that makes it tough to pull off. I needed a bunch of storage for my brass, and ended up putting a big wire shelving unit that runs from the far corner to behind the 550. The case feeder wouldn't have room if I swapped them. If I had anywhere else to put that shelf, I would, but funny enough, reloading and shooting crud have pretty much overrun this room.
  11. Which case gauge? My double alpha fails about 20%. I gauge the same cases on my Dillon and it's perfect. Never had a ftf with those that passes the Dillon.
  12. Thanks for taking the time to measure it. I only have about 10" of clearance unless I go to a custom mounting solution, I'll have to take a look at plan B.
  13. Hello all - I have a favor to ask if anyone is running either the newest generation of the Mr. Bullet Feeder or the GSI. My 650XL is mounted next to a cabinet and I only have a limited amount of space to the left of the press. (You can see a picture of it here. http://imageshack.us/a/img404/4541/photo1uuk.jpg If you have either of those feeders, would you mind checking how much clearance you need on the left side of the press as measured from the flat side of the toolhead? I can't really move the 650 down without running out of room for the 550 handle to clear the L shaped portion of the bench. Much obliged, Pete

    Glock 26

I love my 26. I went with Trijicon HDs. I use them on all my other 'working' guns, and i wanted to stay consistent.
  15. Quick update - I just got off the phone with Leupold. The Deltapoint 2 is no longer planned for production. It was felt to be redundant to the delta point pro, and won't be produced. They are saying the pro version might be available to the consumer market in 1Q of 15. I'm sure glad I bought a carver comp mount with the delta point mounting pattern to have ready when these ship.....
