Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hogue big butt grips that started with finger grooves but I used a Dremel to remove them. I also took some rubber off the grip behind the trigger guard to allow for a little higher grip. I hope it lasts forever because I love that damn grip.
  2. There is a thread in the revolver section about starline brass and the 929 not working so great together. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=212712 I use Winchester brass (new) and TK custom moon clips for Winchester brass and I only had a problem with powders faster than Win 231. Win 231 makes minor in my 929 without any stickiness and my 929 works great. I don't know how to help you with your moon clip fit problem though. good luck
  3. Montana gold 142 .357" I don't remember exactly how accurate they were, but they were good enough for USPSA.
  4. I am using Winchester Brass and TK custom moon clips design for Winchester brass and it works great for me and my 929. Honestly though TK customs has moon clips design specifically for 5 different brands of brass. So I say if you match the moon clips to the brass as specified on the website you'll be fine. here's the link http://www.tkcustom.com/cart/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=42&cat=9mm
  5. You'll be good to go with the Double alpha race master holster or a CR speed holster (I use the CR speed, but when the time is right I want to try the race master). As far as moon clip holders the North Mountain moon clip holders and the Speed-E-Rack are the two most common that I see people using. I use the NM holders, but I consider both holders to be excellent it's just a matter of preference. The James Austin moon clip server is popular too but I like the KISS ideas of the other two. I don't know if loading moon clips on to the moon clip server from a table could be done as quickly as the other two. The BMT is a great mooner/demooner and something extra that is a must is TK custom steel moon clips designed by hearthCo matched to your brass. Hope this helps, good luck, and welcome to the world of revolver shooting.
  6. Apex Tactical is the way to go. I agree with carmoney their work does take some time due to backlog, but it is worth the wait if you are willing to invest the money. The 627 they did for me was a 3 month wait and my 625 was a 7 month wait because I had them install a factory 5" barrel on it.
  7. "Just do what you know how to do" and "Just shoot the front sight" Have been the most helpful thing I can tell myself at the line ready to shoot.
  8. I never knew about LMGTFY. It is awesome and I will be using that quite frequently now. Thank you.
  9. the 929 is worth the $1140 I paid for mine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN0IQdNMfLU
  10. I agree with Gregg K to hold out for a 929 or a 627. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 929 and I switched from my 627 because the longer barrel and Ti cylinder make the 929 a lot better than the 627 I had (IMO). If you have facebook it was either josh lentz or David Olhasso posted a picture of a group he shot at 30 yards with his 986.
  11. Brand new Winchester brass and TK moon clips are working best for me. The once fired Winchester brass from the new brass batch fall right in the cylinder after being resized with a Dillon resizing die.
  12. Here is my situation it's kind of similar. I am a student going to college for Manufacturing Engineering Technology, I am the President of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers at school, I work about 20 to 30 hours a week while in school. I have homework plus group projects that require me to spend several hours in the library for group meetings and or research. Then there is the shooting stuff dry fire, live fire, loading ammo, video review, gun maintenance etc. There is no time for a social life except for at the range so I don't have to worry about that. Keeping it short here are my priorities in order 1.) Sleep (I do worse at everything without it) 2.) School, homework, projects. (Tuition is expensive and school will likely result in me getting a better job so I can afford to shoot more later) 3.) Work (no money = no eating and no shooting) 4.) Dry fire (it's free and twice a day for 15 mins. doesn't take long and keeps the skills sharp) 5.) Live fire (it takes time to load ammo, go to the range, set up, shoot, and tear down). 6.) loading ammo, gun maintenance and everything else shooting related. Notice how the shooting stuff comes last! That KILLS me because there is not much that I love more than shooting (My biggest life goal is shooting related). I get stressed when I have to take a month off from shooting because I want to pass my finals and classes. I get disappointed when I have to miss nationals for the second year in a row because it's the weekend after finals. To sum it all up for me is it sucks that I don't get to do as much as I like now, but everything I am doing now is setting myself up so I can have the means to do what I love for a job and in life (shooting USPSA and ICORE) for later down the road. Hope this helps for you I'd recommend setting the shooting aside for a week to catch up on sleep and figure out a plan for your current situation. There are plenty of opportunities for classifiers in the future and they aren't that important compared to shooting well overall.
  13. Enough conscious repetition of a task will result in a subconscious action. My biggest improvements happened when I just focused on trying to be more consistent with the basics/fundamentals of shooting. In matches just stick with what you know and just shoot the A's. This is what works for me your mileage may vary.
  14. Yes you can, I do that to all my rubber grips just don't go to high or you'll hit the hard plastic inside. I've done it to a wood miculek grip too and it turned out okay I just prefer the rubber grips. I used a dremel with a sanding wheel to do the job.
  15. I want to go but right now the answer is maybe. I graduate college in May and there are still somethings I need to figure out with that and work. I should know by late January and I know I'm pressing my luck by waiting that long.
