Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Welcome to the forum. I was stationed at homer in 1960 and that's when I got into reloading and shooting.
  2. Welcome from Crystal Springs. Check out msgunowners.com if you aren't already on that forum.
  3. Welcome from Crystal Springs. Good people and good info here.
  4. Welcome from MS. Have relatives in Cedar Falls and Davenport and am glad that Iowa finally recognizes the second amendment. I can carry legally when I visit.
  5. Welcome from Crystal Springs. Check out msgunowners.com for all the shooting in MS.
  6. Welcome. I've done the same thing before, or thought I did.
  7. Welcome. Just found the forum myself and really like it. Nice folks and plenty of help if you need it.
  8. To find the right charge for your particular pistol, load about 20 rounds with the tightgroup with three different charges of powder about .2 or .3 different starting at the min load in the manual. You will find that your pistol with shoot a better group with one or maybe two of the charges.
  9. With .45Acp, 40 S&W, 10mm and 9mm you have to remember that the round headspaces on the front of the case so be sure you don't put too much of a crimp or the cartridge will seat too far and might not fire. Just a word of caution.
  10. Unless you can find a reloading manual with loads for rifle, shotgun and pistol for the same powder, don't try it. I've reloaded since 1960 and have not found a powder that is good for all. If someone told me of a powder tghatg would work and it wasn't in the manual for all three, I still wouldn't use it. IMO
  11. You learned the hard way. NEVER ask anyone for their favorite load and NEVER use a load someone gives you.
  12. I used a beam scale from RCBS for years and found it to be right on. I recommend any good beam scale. I finally talked myself into a Hornady electronic scale and highly recommend it. I use a progressive for my pistol calibers but weigh every one for my .223 and Garand and the electrtonic is great. By the time I pour one charge into the brass the next is ready.
  13. Couldn't find this posted. Never mix powders, even the same kind cause every batch is different.
  14. I clean it every time I fire it. I clean it the night before I'm going to reload it. I put it in my tumbler, which is upstairs and hooked to a timer, and let it clean for a couple hours and its ready in the morn.
  15. I used the dry type tumbler for years and finally decided to go ultrasonic. I really like the ultrasonig because I use a lot of pulled .223 and 30.06 military brass. There is some sort of sealer in the mouth of the cases of the mil brass and the tumbler will not take it out. The ultraconic cleans it out but good. I can't do as many as with the media tumbler but I'got time.
