Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. 75, clear, blue skies. Why should today be different than any other day of the year?
  2. given your dilemma, I'm not sure you have much of a choice. Get the audiobook and go from there. You should also listen to Ben Stoeger's podcast, maybe Steve Anderson's podcast, etc. Do the visual stuff as your dilemma permits
  3. When you lock your tendons, just make sure you don't lose the key to unlock them, or they'll be stuck like that forever.
  4. Maybe get some help? Kids can pickup dropped mags, reload mags for you, re-set / move / tape targets, pick up brass, etc. Another option might be to see if you can optimize your live-fire. If you can't find more time, perhaps a coach / trainer can ensure you're getting the most of the time you do have.
  5. An option might be to quit struggling with belief and get into facts. If you really wanted to know the truth, you could have measured your rate of progress in the Bill Drill before you started doing these dry fire drills twice a week. Then, after building up a decent amount of data over time, you would change your training to include 2x week dry fire Bill Drills, and see if the rate of improvement in your progress in the Bill Drill actually changed.
  6. I've never seen a tray quite like that. I assume it's from some flavor of factory ammo, but I don't know which.
  7. I'm with moto...more realistic dry-fire is more better.
  8. Just watched the movie. It differs significantly from the book, imo. Tries to be a bit of an action movie, whereas the book paints more of a picture of a guy going to work everyday, and his job just happens to be to look through a scope for hours and hours. The movie fails to convey many points from the book I thought were really enjoyable, but no movie can ever encompass all the great details that a book can, so I get some of the omissions. Didn't think this was one of Eastwood's better jobs, and it barely even felt like an Eastwood movie, right until the ending tribute section, where Eastwood really shines. That section was extraordinarily well done, imo, and the movie is worth it just for those final minutes. Was also pleased that it didn't turn into a political thing. It stayed focused on the man himself, the sacrifices he and his family made and the service he gave -- as it should be. Well worth a watch
  9. Not first-hand info, but a friend with a big head loves these: http://www.davidclark.com/HeadsetPgs/model19a.htm Apparently you can adjust the width across your head. Can't speak to the ear size issue
  10. I have the Shockbottles, and they aren't e-z for me. It's often impossible to seat the nipple on the bottom of the (in this image: http://www.okiegunsmithshop.com/CZ_85.jpgit is part #38, called a) magazine base lock. It's as if the holes in the Shockbottles weren't drilled in the proper locations, or maybe it's just that my mec gar mags have out-of-spec magazine base locks, and the Shockbottles are perfect...I don't know. End result I have to manipulate the magazine base locks with a small punch and even that doesn't work with a few of them. However, they seem very sturdy and rigid, and they're significantly lighter than the Springers, which would have put me over max production weight for my CZ.
  11. Is something like this reasonable: http://balance.balances.com/scales/915 ?
  12. Moscow might have a nice range, but you couldn't call it a mecca, because traveling there (which is what people do with various meccas) with a gun would be a serious legal and logistical hassle, involving much planning, forms, approvals and bureaucracy. AZ would be the opposite experience. Cross the border, and you're freer than the state from which you just came (depending on the exact state, but even TX doesn't have open carry, yet). Plus AZ has more matches more of the time, and a bigger population of quality shooters & smiths than most places. Is AZ better in every regard than every other place? Of course not. But in the overall scheme of practical shooting, I'd guess it'd place pretty high.
  13. Welcome from San Diego!
