Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hi all, Thank you for your help. I am running the 336 Ejector. Which one is better? I have tried factory from 115 up to 147 gn loads. I have been running Win 231 with a 125gn LCN. I've worked up to 4.6gn which is over the max(4.4) trying to make power factor. I'm hesistent to go any more than 4.6 and I'm not sure it will fit in the case. It's already a compressed load to make a length that will chamber. Any suggestions for a load/powder? Thank you,
  2. Hi, Thank you for your time and help. I have a G17 LW Barrel, Carver 4 port comp, deltapoint slide mounted. I have tried recoil springs from 17lbs to 10lbs and a 10 lb minus 3 coils. No matter what I seem to do it ejects the casings (when it does) right into the upper right side of the deltapoint sight. Without the comp the ejection pattern goes back to sideways but with it it goes vertical. Some rounds are stove piping, and a few even get caught backwards. All of the rounds that are getting stuck are in line with the barrel (like just It pushed the round up never kicking it), not one is getting stuck on the side like it just didn't eject the case far enough. I have no ideal how it is sticking them backwards yet in line with the barrel. Any suggestions what could be wrong? Thank you,
  3. The rail is the same length on both types of receiver. Isn't this a factor of flex and binding? The weakly supported rail would bind the slide? And from my limited knowledge more rail doesn't neccessary add accuracy, it's more about lockup consistency.
  4. What would be a better choice in a FLDC STI? I can't really tell the difference between all of them.
  5. Hello, I am debating my 1st double stack 1911, but I am really hung up on a full length dust cover (FLDC) or not. This will be a USPSA limited gun for me, and my 1st true limited gun. So the two guns at the top of the list are an STI Edge, vs and STI Eagle (Bull Barrel). What advantages does the full length dust cover actually bring? They seem to be more popular in USPSA and of the 6 limited guns STI makes 5 of them have full length dust covers. There has to be a reason.... (I don't know what to call the 5.0 tactical, so FLDC). The only disadvantage I can see is I can't shoot it in IDPA, but I don't shoot IDPA much and have a 9mm I enjoy shooting in ESP. So aside from that why does it matter? Is it better weight distribution? More strength or Less Frame Flex? Is the slide able to be lighter in a FLDC? They weigh only 2.4 oz different so I can't see it being that much of a difference. (Edge - 37.6 oz, Eagle - 35.2oz (Sig) or the Eagle weights 93% of the Edge) I am not even sure if that is accurate because I can't find a true weight on the Eagle in .40. But if it is 1oz in the slide and 1oz in the frame, that would be a big difference. Please enlighten me, thank you for your help and time.
  6. Are the footprints the same too? Just to make sure. Thank you for your help
  7. Is a slide cut for a deltapoint the same as a jpoint? I've seen a few places that list the cut as jpoint/deltapoint. I was looking at a whole slide that was already cut for a red dot but the glockworks one I was looking at doesn't list deltapoint but does list jpoint. Or is it the same as another cut? Since I think I've committed to using a deltapoint on my glock. Thank you for the time and help.
  8. @KMCA Yes a few times, but not enough to really develop a preference. Or is Type type a type of sight? @bassochist I was thinking of mounting it on the slide for now... It looks better IMO but I lose sight of it when it cycles. @Steve RA I can't handle any more choices, I can't make a decision already.... JK if there is a better sight I missed please let me know. Generally I just feel the Slide Rides are a bit bulky, they seem to be really tough is that why everyone uses them? Or is there something I am missing from this ideas? On another note I am looking at the delta point but what is a cross bolt mount one comes with all mounts and one comes with cross bolt?? Which one do I need. http://www.botachtactical.com/lederesi.html Thanks everyone for the great replies and comments. As well as helping out me.
  9. Since my question of what size dot has turned into what sight for the money, I figured it would be easier to just put a poll up. Which in your opinion is best for the money, and why please? As for consideration the following are approximate prices I can find each sight at Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated - 9 MOA $357, 7MOA $399 + $50 mount (why is the 7 MOA $45 more???) Trijicon RMR Adjustable LED - 6.5 MOA $499 (I can't afford this one) + $50 Mount Cmore STS - $320 + $30 mount Fastfire II - $180 + $45 Mount Fastfire III - $220 + $45 mount Luepold Deltapoint - $337 I am on a tight budget, so take that into consideration. This is for a G17 9mm Major build. Thanks for the time and help everyone,

    3MOA or 8MOA

Arggrah More options is not helping my decision making process.

    3MOA or 8MOA

Ok so the big question now is, go fast fire for $200, or drop for a trijicon RMR for $400.... What do you all think? is it worth the $200 extra?

    3MOA or 8MOA

That solves that, thank you very much

    3MOA or 8MOA

Hello all, I am looking to move up to open class on a budget, probably not my best idea but I am looking at a Burris Fastfire III, but should I get the 3MOA dot or the 8 MOA dot. The 8 should be faster but that feels like it is getting really big... Suggestions help ideas???? Thank you very much.
  14. So you are saying that ideally lighter is better, but the G35 slide is the same weight as the G21 slide. FlexMoney, Wouldn't an open gun have an excess of energy especially if it is running major? Hence the compensator is working to reduce the energy of the recoil and slide? Not like we are playing with minor loads that can barely cycle the slides... I am totally wrong, or am missing something here? thank you,
  15. Hello All, I am looking at building my first open gun but after all the research I cannot seem to figure out why the G22/G17 (major/minor) seems to be a more popular base platform for open class guns than a G35? Is there are reason for why everyone seems to use the shorter slide rather than the longer slide? My Eng/physics is telling me that the compensator further out on the barrel has more torque (leverage) to counter the rotational muzzle rise. Eg the downward force at 6 inches is less torque than the same force at 8inches. I understand the biggest advantage of a longer slide is sight radius making aiming easier but accuracy is rarely increased with the longer slide. Now with a red dot sight radius doesn't matter, but the weight should be equal. It is claimed a G35 slide is the same weight as a standard 22 slide, and the slide doesn't actually move any further during ejection. The only reason I can come up with is that the moment of inertia (the more forward mass) increases the lateral transition feeling, but I would think this would be over taken by the better compensation creating a flatter shooting gun. What am I missing here? Please help me out. Thank you for your time and help.
