Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Have heard this mentioned on several posts but do not understand what following through on a shot means.
  2. Glad to hear you are OK. I am a relatively new shooter. Can you explain in more detail what happened and how it happened?
  3. Fairly new USPSA shooter here. While practicing, I have been playing around with different recoil springs and ammo. I shoot production and started off shooting 115 gr WWB. That combined with the stock 17 lb recoil spring results in pretty snappy recoil. Recently I have been playing around with a 15 lb recoil spring and 147 gr loads that have a lighter feeling recoil. While I like the feel of the new combination, I am not sure I don't shoot better with the WWB and 17 lb spring. I am still experimenting with this, but while practicing today it appeared that the higher the sight lifted off, the easier it was for me to pick it up and get it back on target while shooting at speed. Anyone else ever experienced this?
  4. Thanks for the help. I look forward to my first SC match. It looks like fun.
  5. I hear you. I saw a blurb on the website about no race holsters allowed in Production Division. In USPSA Production, I use a Comp Tac holster on a CR Speed belt (double belt). I was just wondering if this is OK or if the SC belt requirement was more in line IDPA.
  6. I have been shooting USPSA for the last couple of months. I am going to try a SC match this weekend and have a quick question. Can I use my CR Speed belt for Production Division? Are all of the equipment rules the same in SC as for USPSA Production?
  7. Earlier this week I shot my second USPSA match. My accuracy deteriorated drastically from first match to second match. I shot 93% of the points in my first match (although I was slow as molasses) and then shot 71% of the points in my second match (slow but a little faster). I did not feel focused in my second match but could not put my finger on any particular problem. I went to the range today to practice and found that I have picked up the bad habit of looking at the target instead of the sights. It seemed to be happening not on the first target but on a second target I transitioned to and subsequent targets. I spent quite a bit of time focusing on the sights and defintely improved. I believe this may be the result of an effort on my part to increase the speed of my shooting. Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions on drills to work on?
  8. Thanks guys. As someone new to pistol shooting, it just seemed safer to not release the trigger until I had transitioned to the next target (while in same shooting position). I can not tell you if I am actually successful riding the reset in a actual match (vs range practice). I have definitely fallen victim to trigger freeze while trying though.
  9. I am a new shooter to USPSA. In reading a previous post, I thought about a question that I have given thought to. When transitioning from target to target, when do you reset trigger (I shoot a glock and "ride the reset")? I have been waiting until acquiring the next target to reset. Is this correct?
