Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Pretty hard to keep a good thing down. If this press ends up anywhere near as good as their classic cast original single stage and turret they will sell a boatload of them.
  2. I hate spending money on extras. I assume one is starting with an as it should be set up with case feeder and a mount. My most productive upgrade was to buy 5 extra primer tubes first off. The light was like 12 bucks at target. It has a big advantage over the rip off priced in frame lights, I can point it wherever I need it, like my hands if I need a good look at something, it is LED super bright. I don't see a light as an option though, it is a must. FA vibra prime, once cleaned up(molding lines) it works as well or better than the original, for almost no money compared to a rf300(I see it as the same thing on a stand, but hugely overpriced). I fill up 6 tubes with it and I am set for a leisurely hour of loading. I have a bullet feeder, but I just don't need it for most sessions.
  3. I'll say. To the tune of about $175 different Hey, if someone wants to spend that much, or the even higher price for the Dillon version...if it makes them happy. *shrug* I'll be over here using my $50 Vibra Prime that works great. I am so glad they were brought back to market. I know they have sold boatloads.
  4. Reloading is a means to an end for most of us. I'm sure the guys that are comp shooting burn out on reloading quickly. I have never understood the 'reloading zen' thing. Those guys that cuddle a rockchucker in their basement all day are welcome to it. I don't find it unenjoyable, but loading on an auto-indexing press is not what I'd call fun, too many things going on to have time for fun. Sure does pile up rounds fast, though. The other end of it, a slow and plodding single stage press.........I'd rather pull my fingernails out. If I could buy factory ammo for the same price I'd be all over that.
  5. .223 conversion for my 650, small rifle casefeed plate, and a powder check. Ordered Feb 4th. Not a word, yet.
  6. It is not uncommon, resize them and load them up.
  7. I have three dimples on my 45 slide. Two far apart on one side and one on the other in the middle compared to the other two.
  8. If you are shooting fmj the FCD is almost always okay and many won't load without it. If you are shooting lead it might not be so great, it depends. Some have complaints that it sizes the lead down ruining accuracy, some don't have the issue. Some folks have no problem using the seating/crimp die as intended. Many millions of rounds have been made that way over the years.
  9. I'm 6' 2", my bench is 36" and I have the 650 specific strong mount. Standing works fine, so does sitting on my 30" stool I use in the loading room(I usually kind of lean on it though, just to take the load off). I can see right down in the cases perfectly. The little red press next to it has an aftermarket handle that makes it feel the same height as the 650.
  10. Yes, grounding to your wall outlet doesn't seem like a great idea to me. If you happen to have contact with a hot source you are going to be an unrestricted path to ground. Zzzzap! Not pretty I'd guess. Have something inline that will pop before you do? I don't know, I'm not a sparky, I'll stick to dryer sheets for now.
  11. I have a Lyman turbo twin 1200, comes with a small bowl for wet tumbling. I do have the stainless pins, but haven't tried it yet. Another forum poster(somewhere else, I don't recall) said it worked well though couldn't do as large of a load, but did work faster so it evened out.
  12. Target has a similar light to the one in the OP, might be worth a look for those with no ikea close by. Plenty of light and way better than a little flashlight, though any light helps.
  13. This is why I did not bat an eye when ponying up the $ for my 650 a few days ago. I had looked over the other manufacturers, and they all make anything right that goes wrong or turns up wrong, but Dillon takes the extra step, and has a huge vocal userbase.
  14. I've read every 650 press post in the 100+ pages here in the last couple days. The platform bolt loosening issue and the obligatory 'call dillon for the alignment tool' answer is quite common, hence my previous post.
