Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I counted 18 spinners in the stages. That may be an Ironman record.
  2. Update from Travis: 1. Payment a. If you haven't sent in your payment, I need it asap. If you have, thanks for taking care of this ahead of time. 2. Registration a. We'll tentatively be doing registration at the range from 4:00 - 7:00 on Saturday afternoon the 6th for the OLHOT match and the same times on Wednesday the 10th for the ST match. 3. Stages and round count a. I'm getting stages finalized now and should have round counts out shortly. I may or may not have course descriptions out to you before the match. I'll do my best. If you figure 300 rifle, pistol, and shotgun, and 100 slugs, you should be in good shape. There will probably be 15-25 long range bonus targets again this year with distances between 500y and 900y. These numbers are based on two rounds per target, one hit on steel, and 10 rounds per spinner for pistol and rifle, and four hits per spinner with slugs. We aren't planning on having any buckshot specific targets this year. i. Spinner note...same as last year...if you knock it over with shot, you'll receive a 300 second penalty. Choose your shot accordingly. 4. Schedule a. We'll shoot two stages before lunch and two stages after lunch the first two days. The second day will be two stages and then awards. We're planning on having awards around 2:00 on the last day of both matches. b. You'll start on the stage that matches your squad number. If you're 105, you'll start on stage 5. If you're 109, you'll start on stage 9... c. The Zipline will be a sidematch this year again and won't be factored in as part of your score. You don't have to shoot it if you don't want to. d. Just like always, we'll have a quick shooters meeting the first morning of both matches at the flagpole at 6:30. Goal is to have rounds downrange by 7:00 each morning. This means the walkthrough will begin at 6:50 every day. Be ready to shoot. FYI ready to shoot means your mags are already loaded... Trooper shooters will need to have all of their gear with them at the shooters meeting. There won't' be time to go to the trooper shed and get your gear after the shooters meeting and be on time to your stage. 5. Lodging a. As everyone seemed to be scattered from hell to breakfast over the last couple of years, we didn't get any "match hotel" lined up. If there is enough interest for one of the hotels in Ontario, I'll see what I can work out. 6. Meals a. Working on them now. Most likely, it will be the same as in years past. There will be lunch at the range. I'll also find out about breakfast for you early risers. More info to follow on that. This is all I can come up with for now. I'm sure there will be more updates to come. Let me know if you've got any other questions. Adios, TG Sponsorship coordinator jason@mgmtargets.com
  3. No thread for the Ironman yet?! OK, I'll kick it off: Yo Travis, what's the latest word? Are there any spots left in the match? When are the stages going to be posted? What's the round count? Is the zip line coming back? How long are the bonus rifle shots? Has the dummy lost any weight in the off-season? ;-)
  4. Registration link: https://clubs.practiscore.com/cog-3-gun-november-8-2014/register
  5. I've had some folks say that 600 yds is not far enough, so, in December we're going out to 1000. If you come to the November match, bring your long range gun up to .50 BMG . You can use the long range to get your dope after the match. If you don't have a long range gun, no problem, we'll provide a .308 stage gun and ammo.
  6. We don't have a website yet, but we are working on it. Come down when you get a chance, we'll be glad to have you.
  7. I have much love for "real" heavy: (pump 12GA, .45 and .30 cal), none for the "light" heavy: (Semi, 9mm and .30 cal). If we can get 3 or 4 Heavy Iron guys, we'll add it to the December match. A .308 might come in handy on the rifle spinner I have planned
  8. Here's are the stages for the November 8th match. We'll have random door prizes and custom trophies for 1st place in TO, TI and open. COG Nov 2014.pdf
  9. We have a new monthly match starting November 8th. The match is at the SCOTG range in Laurens, SC. The facility is awesome: 12+ shooting bays (25-100 yds) plus a 1000 yd rifle range. In November, we'll have 5 stages with long range rifle out to 600 yds . Check it out on the Facebook at "COG3GUN".
  10. Travis, the stage diagrams are outstanding! It's only fitting that the best match has the best diagrams.
  11. Travis, what's your round count guestimate? The Carolina boys need to order ammo and have it shipped out there. Oh, and where them stages at Cuz? :-)
  12. Travis, Where them stages at, bro? I've been waiting 11 months
  13. The only downside to attempting the bonus targets and missing them is the time added. Last shot is last shot. The timer keeps running while attempting the bonus targets. You can use a bi pod on your Long range "bonus" gun. You CANNOT use a bi pod on your tac rifle for that stage. (unless you're ready to graduate to open class)
  14. I'm in Columbia and would be interested for sure. I have LOTS of steel that I could bring for the match if needed. (MGM clay flippers, MGM spinners, clay whirli gig, clay thrower, texas star, and plenty of knock down steel.
  15. Here they is: I don't know what Richard has planned for stage 1, but I'm sure it will be good. WalnutGrove3Gun May 2012.pdf
