Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have a set of 3 RCBS dies in 40S&W that I have not used yet. I was looking at them and noticed that one is a seat/tapper crimp die. That is what gave me the idea to combine the stations. I am just wondering if anyone else is doing the same, and if so how well it works. My understanding is RCBS is supposed to be one of the better die making companies.
  2. What I am trying to do is add a bullet feeder to my super 1050 press. All the research and videos I have seen, they take out the powder check and use that station for the bullet feeder die. I want to keep my powder check station and I want to take out my seating die and use that station for the bullet feeder. If I do that, that means on the last station, the crimping station, I will need to take out the crimping die and put in a die that will seat and crimp the bullet simultaneously. I am wondering first, if this idea will work because I am new to reloading. Second, if anyone knows of a quality die that will seat and crimp. And last, if there is a better way to accomplish what I am trying to do.
  3. I am looking to free up a station in my Super 1050 and I am wondering if anyone knows of a quality crimping/seating combination die. I would like to add a bullet feeder die without having to get rid of my powder check station. Any ideas?
  4. I just purchased the CED/DAA RangePack Pro Backpack and it is very impressive. Very large and will hold everything including ammo, guns, belts, mags, hydration system, a stool and the list goes on and on. The problem is once you have all this stuff loaded the bag weighs just shy of a metric ton. I really wish they would have designed a mobility system similar to the handle and wheels on the tool bag above. Maybe some more all-terrain wheels though.
  5. I have both the Inov-8 MudClaw 333 and the Oroc 350, and I like the Oroc 350's much better. They have plenty of traction and grip and they feel much more comfortable to me than the MudClaw's.
  6. I switched from a CR Speed holster to a DAA RaceMaster and have not looked back since.
  7. My first limited gun that I bought is an STI Eagle with a bushing barrel. The Eagle comes with a standard dust cover, that and the bushing barrel allows me to shoot it in IDPA and USPSA. It is a great way to expand your gaming opportunities without going broke. Since that first gun I have bought two more, one open gun and another limited gun, so the not going broke thing didn't work for me but the theory is sound. I agree with the others about not spending the extra money on the bull barrel.
  8. Both of my limited guns are .40 S&W for the sole purpose to make power factor in USPSA. That and I have no interest in shooting a 45.
  9. Because of my work schedule I don't get to attend many matches anyway so on the rare occasion I am able to go to a match I don't think there are many things at all that would stop me from going, including gas prices.
  10. I run a RazorCat in open, and a SVI and STI in limited. These guns are way to expensive to be running dirt through them.
  11. I like the slide cuts and the tri-top. Very cool for an Eagle.
  12. Don't waste your money; no matter what skill level you are get the machine you want to end up with. I just started reloading myself and I started on the Super 1050 against many recommendations to not start with that sophisticated of a machine. All you have to do is buy the instructional DVD for the machine you are purchasing and you will not have any problems. The video instructor literally starts with the boxes that will be shipped to you. He goes thru unpacking everything, to mounting, to assembly, to setting dies, ect... all the way to reloading ammo. It was incredibly helpful, as good as having an experienced reloader standing next to you helping you the whole way thru. It took me no time at all to set up my 1050 and I was working up my loads shortly after.
  13. I would recommend getting the springs and followers as a set and changing them both out at the same time. Plus the Grams followers are proprietary to the gram springs. I'm sure someone could make them work with another spring, but you would have to modify the spring first. Not really worth it, plus just might end up causing more problems.
  14. +1 Stands to reason if the gun is zeroed in a bench rested position, the only thing that can change in a free style position would be you.
