Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Stages are slowly coming out. I anticipate we'll have all stages posted by 8 Jan. How's your buddy drag and TQ application skills? Stage 3:
  2. It's almost time for those New Year resolutions. Get a head start on them and register for the HeartBreak. Time with your guns on the clock, a nice trip through the woods to get some cardio, the beautiful outdoors at a time of the year when you don't normally go out, obstacles, an opportunity to move up to a 10K? What's not to love....knock off a bucket list item (I'm sure we've covering one for you). A solid shooter who fast hikes the 10K will land a competitive time. Get out here! 3. Stage 1 posted on the FB group. Come play....#howsyourcoldboreshooting? Stage 1 - Not All Shots Are Created Equal #heartbreak5k10k After running 4/10 of a mile up hill to the rifle range you will be briefed on the course of fire. On the buzzer you carry a heavy object to your firing position, and immediately make a cold bore shot on one of the single most important targets of the match. You have one freestyle, any support you like, shot at a 6" square at 250 yard to avoid a course run time PENALTY. A miss earns 2.5 min penalty for 5k, and 5 min penalty for 10k. Hit or miss on your cold bore shot, you move to firing position 2 and engage 6 steel targets from 45yd-300yd+ yards. Engage targets from near to far with one hit each. Targets range from 4 MOA to 10 MOA. When completed, repeat from firing positions 3, 4, 5, and 6. Use rests, and support at each firing position as available. Misses/unengaged targets under 200yd are 10 second penalties. Misses/unengaged targets over 200 yd are 20 second penalties. After completing the course of fire or hitting par time, you have one shot left. In 30 seconds you must drop your rifle magazine, retain one round in the chamber, and make a single unsupported (Rifle may only touch you. You may only touch the ground.) shot on the 6" square at 250 yd for a course run time BONUS. A hit earns 2.5 min bonus for 5k, and 5 min bonus for 10k. Par time 3:20 + :30 Rifle hits: 32 Pistol hits: 0
  4. In a Partnership for Our Future, the NRA Foundation and Revere's Riders will be supplying a free brick of .22 Long Rifle ammo for each of the first 10 youth who register for, and compete in, either the Heartbreak 5K or 10K. In order for youth to receive the free ammo the day of the race, they must: #1 Be under 18 years of age, #2 Shoot .22 rimfire firearms during the event, and #3 Exclusively use the supplied ammo for the event. Youth may keep the remainder of the brick not used during the event, as long as they complete the full distance and all stages of the race. Revere's Riders is a 501(c)3 non-profit, non-partisan, all-volunteer nationwide organization whose purpose is to educate the public in American history, support the shooting sports, and promote civic engagement. Revere's Riders is affiliated with the National Rifle Association, the Civilian Marksmanship Program, and the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance. We have rifle, carbine, and pistol marksmanship programs for all ages and ability levels, as well as rifle and pistol clinics custom-tailored for your group. Our programs are not just educational and informative, they are inspiring! Facebook: Revere's Riders of Kentucky and www.hitscount.org __ The rimfire course of fire will be the same as the centrefire course of fire with the exception being the 300yd range. Rimfire will have a modified course of fire. Come run together! Bring your child out to experience a 2 gun biathlon!
  5. Combined Route course map: 5 and 10K. 10Kers are anticipated to have around 700-1000ft elevation change over the course.
  6. Details Need a reason to train off those Holiday pounds? Already training for another run-n-gun? Introducing the Heartbreak 10K, a biathlon shooting soirée. When: Saturday, 3 February 2018 Registration : Opens Sunday evening 12/17 at 6pm Description: A 5K and 10K ‘run and gun’ of Heartbreaking proportions. Challenging your competence in shooting, movement, and situational awareness when cold, tired, and under pressure. You should arrive prepared to battle the elements, our movement course, and courses of fire. This is an opportunity to see if you have the mental fortitude to push yourself through the course during the winter. When planning gear consider what you would take in the woods for 8 hours in February in this location. While the course is much shorter than an 8 hour run it is important to always be prepared for problems and potential extensions of time outside due to illness, injury, etc. Cell service should NOT be considered available when planning your gear. This event is intended for experienced shooters that are familiar with their equipment. Pre-registration is required. Participation is limited to 60 shooters the day of the match so that the course may be completed during daylight for all participants. RO's will run on Friday. Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1288981797874883/ Start times: 8am (first runner leaves start) – 3pm (last runner leaves start) End times: Course closes when the last runner completes the course OR at sunset. Course Length: 5K and 10K (you must choose the length at registration you WILL be running). ~800ft elevation gain across a mixed of groomed gravel and trail. Registration: $40. Payment required prior to match for shooter confirmation. Refunds: Full refund on cancellation prior to Jan 4. No refunds after Jan 4. Registration Link: https://practiscore.com/bgsl-heartbreak-10k/registerEquipment: All equipment should be zero’d and ready to go. o Pistol: 9mm or larger centerfire caliber o Rifle: .223 or larger centerfire caliber o Safety: Eye and hearing protection is REQUIRED in all shooting areas o Knife: attendee’s choice. o Stopwatch: as needed to manage wait times Round Count: approx. 155hits (mix rifle\pistol) – will be finalized by 1 Jan. Classes: You will be weighed at the beginning of the course in full gear. You will be weighed at the end of the course in full gear then without gear. All classification weight measurements occur at the finish line. Weight must be carried throughout the course. o Light: less than 25% of body weight. o Mid: individuals choosing to carry 25%-49.9999% of body weight. o Heavy: individuals choosing to carry 50%+ of body weight. Scoring: • Overall scoring is a 50/50 combination of competitor run score and stage score. o RUN = 50% of score o Stages = 50% of score • There may be opportunities to decrease your run score as a competitor traverses the course at interim ‘challenge stages’. • Hits will be required as noted prior to course of fire. RO’s will call hits at distance where necessary (this will be indicated during the stage briefing). • There is a max par time of 180 seconds for each stage (i.e. if a competitor time reaches 180 seconds they are FINISHED with the stage course of fire). Scoring will commence when: o Competitor indicates they have finished the course of fire OR they reach max par time. • Misses: o >100 yards: 10 seconds o <100 yards: 20 seconds • Failure to engage (FTE) a target results in a penalty equal to the number hits required x miss penalty. Example: if 3 hits are required on a target under 100 yards and an FTE occurs the penalty would be 3x10 seconds=30 second penalty. Safety: • You must adhere to the rules as defined by Bluegrass Sportsman’s League during participation. • This is a COLD range. All weapons must be unloaded unless directed otherwise by a Range Officer. Hot guns at any location other than a course of fire (once directed to load and make ready) will result in a disqualification. • Dropping a loaded weapon will result in a disqualification. • Muzzles must be pointed in a safe direction at all times. • Handguns must be holstered unless in a safe zone or directed by an RO.FAQ:1. Do I run with a cold or ‘hot’ gun? - This is a COLD range. All weapons will be loaded as required at the direction of an RO at each stage. All guns must be cleared prior to exiting a stage. 2. Where do I equip my guns? – There are ‘safe’ areas around the course. While rifles may be carried unloaded with muzzle in a safe direction pistols may ONLY be equipped in safe areas. Carrying of pistols between vehicle and safe area must be completed with the firearm in a storage device (bag, box, etc.). 3. Can I leave my gear placed as needed on the course? – No, you must carry all gear used during the course from start-finish (minus consumed ammo, materials, food, drink, etc.) 4. Are there any ammo restrictions? – YES! No hardened penetrator core ammo. No tracers. We’re using steel and don’t want it damaged. If your ammo attracts a magnet leave it at home! 5. What’s the furthest target? - 300 yards 6. Are there obstacles? – Yes. Enjoy. 7. What are we shooting? – Stuff. (update 12/14: course of fire will be provided prior to the match). 8. When do I need to be onsite? – 1 hour prior to your start (minimum). 9. How are start times selected? – Random selection. 10. Is there a gap between participants on start? – Yes. 7 min between competitors. 11. DO I weigh in? – Yes, to start and at the end. Your weight at the end (with and without gear) deare used for classification. 12. Are there facilities? – BGSL has minimal facilities for ordering food, etc. Pack your food and beverages. However, Coffee, Cider, Hot Chocolate and post-course snacks will be provided at the club house. 13. Will I get wet? – We appreciate it may be below freezing at the time of the event. Therefore, intentional water obstacles have been removed from the course for February.
  7. Each and every RO that had to deal with me; thank you. All match staff, great work as always. Another fun 3 Gun Rockcastle Pro/Am in the bag. Squad 11 was a blast (pun intended). Ian, great fun and I hope you got to use all that ammo!
  8. Can someone confirm the BCG commonality? Snapped my charging handle off going into a dump barrel this weekend and need a new one. Preferably one that isn't cast and fragile. Nice gun, running reasonably well...not as rugged as I expect (which means I tend to replace parts and have spares as I break them). I can swap charging handles when I get back, but I'm 99.9% sure they are interchangeable. Briley makes a replaceable charging handle that should be a lot more durable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Confirmed, A400 replaceable charging handle fits. $9 for shipping something that could go USPS for $2...steep.

  10. Thanks Linda! We all appreciate how hard you work at this (esepecially me since I'm sure I hit the button an extra time and you have to weed through my duplicates).
  11. Gave up my pro slot (you're welcome someone 2 weeks ago), got in on the AM side, was #10 in the AM waiting list. Looking forward to another great match at The Rock.
