  1. ODIN Works also has lightweight 308 handguards for both heights.
  2. Mike Foley said No to 30 Carbine on the USPSA forum. Only problem with that idea is that you typically end the stage at a position other than where you started. Then you clear it, put the flag in it, and walk back to the start of the stage to bag it. See my previous post. "Flag" means nothing to me. Nor does a chamber flag exist anywhere in my states criminal statutes. You point a gun at someone, loaded or not "chamber flag" or not you just broke the law. Period. You point it at me, "flag" or not you are gonna have consequences. It's a bummer this debate has come to this, but oh well. Im not going anywhere and I'm not gonna let anyone put me at risk for a game. Want to add a division, perhaps you should have had a little respect. Can jam it, and see what you get. Ultimo-Hombre, First let me say I don't care either way about this rule change so this posting isn't motivated by an opinion on the rule. I would never condone unsafe gun handling and don't think we should support unsafe gun handling in any sport. I also respect anyone's decision to avoid areas or matches where unsafe gun handling occurs. What bothers me though are people that make rash and wild statements that they can't back up with fact. I am also an Idaho resident and I think that you may have misspoken regarding your knowledge of the law. You said, " You point a gun at someone, loaded or not "chamber flag" or not you just broke the law. Period." you also said, " If USPSA dosnt penalize him, state statutes will. You point a gun at me, loaded or not you are breaking the law." and then you also said, "I am pretty confidant in my knowledge of my states legal statutes, and I don't have to put up with guys pointing rifles at me without recourse." I'd like to know what you're talking about by these "states legal statutes" that will penalize someone who unintentionally points a gun at someone. Also please elaborate on how the person who accidently points a gun at you at a match is "breaking the law?" I would agree that Idaho has a law that criminalizes unsafe gun handling that results in injury. However, that's not what you said and I'd like you to expound on your aforementioned statements regarding the law in Idaho. I'm fully aware of Idaho's brandishing statute that is titled "Exhibition Or Use Of A Deadly Weapon." Please don't bring it up, it doesn't apply as it requires intent. I'm also aware of Idaho's statute titled "Aiming Firearms At Others" and it also doesn't apply as it also requires intent. So please elaborate and specifically tell us what statute or law found in Idaho is going to do what you're saying it will do? I'd sincerely like to know.
  3. I had the same problem. Assuming a cleaned and lubed gun I'd start with replacing the mag tube spring (around $5 for Nordic Components from Brownells). I run a 12 round tube and it wears springs out really fast. When the spring isn't strong enough it doesn't push shells out fast enough or far enough and they hang up.
  4. I think I read somewhere that Charles wanted us to call him or email him. Has anyone done this?
  5. I can't log in to the 3 Gun Nation Website...I just keep getting this error. Oops! Looks like we had a misfire... We're very sorry, but an internal error occurred, and your request cannot be completed at this time.
  6. There are no other matches even in the same league as Ironman. The Hard As Hell match in St George, Ut, is pretty fun but doesn't have the round counts or the long range. The NW Multigun in Bend, Or, is also a fun 3 gun but no other match will compare after having shot Ironman. You will be disappointed for the rest of your life. You should probably go find a shrink that can prescribe you some kind of anti depression pills until you can shoot Ironman again next year. Good luck!
  7. Here is a good review of the AR Gold Trigger
  8. If your gun is currently a 243 you'll need to buy a new bolt head if you leave that family size of cartridges. Depending on how old your gun is that could get complicated. If you didnt want to mess with bolt heads the easiest cartridges to rebarrel to would be 308, 7mm-08, 260, 243, etc.
  9. Mark, the optics are as good as the Swaro. I have both scopes. The reticle does suck but new reticle in 2013 for the Sightron. Also, the Sightron only weighs 3.8 ounces more than the Swaro and you gain 1x on the top end. The Swaro has way better field of view, better reticle, and better illumination. It also costs at least $1700 more. The Sightron matches it in glass and tracking and bests it in magnification. The Sightron is fantastic for the price.
  10. You should look at the Sightron 1-7. I have one and its amazing. In fact, when they come out with their newer reticle in 2013 I'll probably sell my Swaro 1-6. Optics planet has them for $689 with free shipping. It has true 1x on the bottom and 7x on top.
  11. Applied Ballistics is made by the same guy who did Shooter but it was made specifically for Bryan Litz and it has reticle holdovers in it. It's very similar to Shooter. I would recommend either one.
  12. Here's a comprehensive review of the AR Gold Trigger.
  13. This article has some interesting information about the Z6i holdovers and the reticle.
  14. There is nothing wrong with 7mm-08 for long range. It is much better than a .308 for long range but obviously falls short of any cartridge that has more powder capacity and the ability to shoot bullets with the same or better b.c.'s. As far as competition, F/TR requires that you shoot a .308 or .223. If you are going to shoot F open then you would want something that can push the bullet faster. That being said I think it has some really big advantages in certain applications. I built a long range AR on a 7mm-08 because I can use cheap .308 brass and size it in one step. So far I haven't needed to trim it. The 7mm-08 has better barrel life than a .260 and and at really long range there isn't enough performance difference to argue about. My 7mm-08 load at my elevation stays supersonic to 1300 yards with a 20 inch gas gun.
  15. You should look into 7mm WSM with heavy 180 Berger bullets or 190 Cauteruccio's. You will have a very difficult time beating the BC with anything smaller than 240g .30 cals or heavy .338's. The really nice thing is that the 7WSM is a short fat cartridge that is very efficient. Additionally, you get rid of the belt. If you throat for longer vld's you can get better than 7mm Rem mag velocities and use less powder doing it. The other nice thing is that the recoil is much more pleasant than .30's.
  16. People stood and clapped at the end of movie. It set the bar pretty darn high for realistic action movies.
  17. My cable provider doesn't offer NBC Sports. Has anyone found a place or way to watch Hot Shots online? I'm willing to pay I just haven't seen an option. Thanks.
  18. 15-16 inches so it covers the gas block. Slim profile. Good venting and light weight. Agree with the comment about the texture on the JP's. A low profile QD sling attachment built in would be cool.
  19. Sightron had prototypes for this scope last year(early 2011). I spent over 2 hours comparing the prototypes to Swarovski 1-6. The glass in the Sightron is right there with the Swarovski. The Swarovski has a bit better field of view but the illumination in the Swaro is in another league altogether. I also played with the production version this year at the SHOT Show and have one on order. The glass is as good as last year. The illumination is a little better but still not anywhere near as good as the Swaro. If this scope had a better reticle it would be the scope to have for 3 gun. Excellent eye relief, glass that is near as good as the Swarovski, true 1x and also the 7x on the top end. The FOV is 91.9 on 1x but feels bigger because the scope disappears with both eyes open. It has 100 MOA adjustments and weighs 20 oz. Eye releif is 3.9 to 4.8. To answer the question above it really does have true 1x. To be exact I think it is like .98 power and the top end is really 7. There is talk of a 2-14 and a 3-21 eventually. My Swaro 1-6 is also like .97 or something like that. Oh, and the turrets are low profile but reset-able to zero by pulling up and pushing back down. It also has Sightron exact tract system so the scope should track as well as their SIII target scopes.
  20. I've had two Millets. The first one I bought, and the second one was a factory replacement for the first one which also ended up going back for a refund of my money. Neither tracked and the glass was poor at best. They had good features they just didn't work. When I was in college and poor I tried every cheap scope on the market thinking that something in the $300-$500 range would work for long range shooting. They did for a little while and would then break or have other problems. Since then I've have had just about every brand of scope out there at one time or another and I think for the money you can't beat a Sightron SIII for a long range target or F/TR scope. You can buy them brand new for $750.00 with your choice of mil/mil or moa/moa reticle and target turrets that are excellent. I run a Zeiss on my hunting rifle and it's a good (my favorite) long range hunting scope but It's not designed for shooting F/TR. Nightforce is one of the best if not the best long range target scope and I have no complaints with mine but they are expensive. The glass in my Sightron is right there with the Nightforce and it tracks just as well. I used a Sightron 8-32x56 over my Nightforce on my F open rifle and it worked excellent. The Sightron is not built nearly as heavy as the Nightforce and I'm sure would not stand up to the abuse but in F/TR matches you don't jump out of helicopters so it should do fine. I really like the features my Vortex has and for the money it's a good scope, however the glass isn't as good as the Sightron. If you want tacticool features at a good price point (illumination, zero stop, FFP, etc) then the Vortex is tough to beat. If you want a solid target scope then for the money you can't beat the new Sightron SIII's. My experience is that you don't have to spend the money on a Nightforce but if you want to be a serious long range shooter you have to get out of the bottom end scopes that weren't really designed for having the turrets turned hundreds of times. Thats my 2 cents. Sorry if I ranted.
  21. Sounds like nice guitars. It's always hard to get what other people tell you things are worth.
