Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Emailed C&S asking the question. They replied that yes it does fit Springfield 9mm 1911. Ordered one at Midway on backorder. Looks like it will cost $10 toe $15 more than from C&S but C&S does allow backorder.
  2. Thanks for the replies. I have to give c&s a call. 90% of my use for a 45 acp 1911 is Cowboy Wildbunch shooting. Ambi mag release is not allowed. I do like the right side release on my M&P 40.
  3. I am planning to get a Cylinder & Slide Ambidextrous Magazine Release 1911 and want to put it on my 1911 9mm Springfield. I have small hands and just found out what can be done with a right hand magazine release. Does anyone know if it will fit I like to shoot to do Single Stack. I have already changed to a right hand magazine release on my M&P 40 Pro. I am right handed. I push with my middle finger and do not have to reach across the grip. My mag changes have gotten faster and with more control. I shoot Limited with this handgun.
  4. Thank you. I was looking for this manual for my timer which I had lost or is missing. Been looking for days. Searching the internet. Then remembered this BB.
  5. Hooray! Finally shot a 5 shot sub moa group! I notified local news and the AP news service, but the story did not appear on TV or the newspaper. It was a 52 grain Hornady Amax with 21.5 grains of Win748. It was my last five bullets. I had to order 200 more, put on backorder from Brownells. Shipping was $14. How much of that gets into Brownells pocket, tax free. OK, that's sour grapes. And Brownell's lets you put items on backorder.
  6. Not happy with this rifle. Back from the range. Loads were mid range power loads. 55 grain and 65 grain bullets. By mid range power loads, i mean the loads were at the middle of the min and max of load in Hornandy and Lyman manuals. The results were not good. I can get a sub minute of angle 3 shot group. The problem is, I have to shoot 10 times and take the closest together 3 shots.
  7. I made some dummy rounds. They were short. But they fed ok when I worked the slide. I checked some of the rounds that I was shooting. They were a little short. Most were gone. I think it was the flat point. I have just replaced the recoil spring with a 15 lb. spring. I was using a 13 lb spring. The "delay" thing was more pronounced with the 13 lb spring. I was focused in on a lube problem. Wrong again. I will keep a closer watch on the length. Thanks again. Shot a club match last weekend. No "delay". Used batch that was 1.125 inches OAL. Had a double feed that destroyed one course of fire. All the rest of the stages were great, except for the classifier, that I won't talk about. It was all me that did bad, can't blame the M&P.
  8. Thanks for the replies. I will do some of that checking. A friend sold me some Rainier bullets real cheap. They are flat points I do not like them but remember the cheap part. Plus buying bullets now is the pits. Doesn't happen with the 9mm where I use round nose, and has never happened. The brain thing has merit. It was a short fast course of fire and I was trying to shoot as fast as I could not caring if I missed. My time, when I felt the "delay", was 2.5 seconds faster than the second time thru.
  9. I shoot limited with a M&P 40 Pro. Often when cycling I get a delayed feel. When this has happened during a match I use Hornady One Shot and the problem seems to go away. Last night I attended a indoor practiced session. The handgun had just been cleaned and oiled with Wilson oil. I had field stripped the handgun. It was a 26 shot course of fire and this "delay" ocurred when the M&P cycled 4 or 5 times. The was no failure to feed or failure to fire. The second time thru the COF the "delay" did not ocurr. Does anyone have an idea what this is? I checked the striker block by pushing it up and down when cleaning. This "delay" can get bad enough to effect concentration. I don't know another way to describe this. Help, please P.S. I have a 9mm M&P Pro that has never had this problem. Used it for Limited and Production.
  10. I searched the forums and found someone who had the above rifle and had adjusted the trigger. The gentleman too, had a glob covering the adjustment screws. I removed the glob and lightened the trigger pull to 3.7 lbs from 4.7 lbs. I don't think much of FN USA assembly. It looks like the assembler screwed the adjustment screw all the way down and backed it off until the trigger would pull. The manual said the trigger pull was suppose to be 3.5, but it was 4.7. Maximum is 5 lbs. These people are not shooter friendly.
  11. I did not know that. Thanks. What reloadable caliber is smaller that a .223?
  12. It has been my experience that you can run into trouble if you use a necked size die to load a round not shot previously in a rifle. I have tried to put a round into a new 25-06 that was not shot in it and jammed that round and had to have a gunsmith remove it. Won't do that again, I just bought a Hornady Neck size .223. I have a new FN XTP bolt rifle I am trying to get to shoot. (I do not call 2 to 4 inch groups shooting. ) For the Bushmaster Varmiter I have, I use a RCBS small base die. I get my minute of angle groups with the Bushmaster. I'm not sure what you mean by "remove the decapping pin" Some of my old Hornady dies had the expander and the decapping pin as a unit. The pin could not be separated. I have replaced those with a kit from Hornady
  13. In the owners manual for the above bolt rifle FNH states the trigger can be adjusted. But they give no instructions about it or even how to remove the barreled action for cleaning. FNH USA states the trigger can be adjusted from 3 to 5 lbs and is factory set at 3.5 lbs. Mine is at 4.7 lbs. and groups are at 2 to 3 inches at 100 yards. I have only 75 rounds through the rifle so will not go into accuracy except to say I wish I had bought a Ruger as my friends's shot minute of angle right out of the box. The rifle is a duplicate of the Winchester Model 70. I used Winchester's manual from the Winchester site. Browning, Winchester and FNH USA are basically the same company. Phones for all are answered in Arnold, Missouri. The trigger adjustment screws for the FNH are covered with some kind of plastic glue. It is a hard plastic like substance. It did not pry off easily so I left it alone. Do I have a used rifle? I called both FNH USA and Winchester and they are off for Good Friday. Does anyone own this rifle and have you adjusted the trigger? Have you seen this "glue" on your rifle? Any info would be appreciated, Except for the accuracy and the trigger I like the rifle. Is that an oxcymoron? Like saying, except for the taste I like dirt.
  14. Can I sue Punxsutawney Phil. On 2 Feb he said early spring. They are predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow here. I do have H335 and 52 grain bullets. They are Hornady though. I will try that load. When the snow goes. I will also take apart and clean the action. I am using a new Burris 6.5 X 20 Fullfield scope. How do I tell if it is broken. New Rings too. Finished cartridge is 2.260. Once fired brass with length 1.750, some at 1.749. Mixed but all .223 Rem. Yes, I have used factory ammo. Factory gives about a 3 to 4 inch groups. These are the best groups I have had.. I can shoot a 3 or 5 shot minute of angle group with my handloads. My Bushmaster Varminter has it happen from time to time, not every time. No, I have never shot a minute of angle 10 shot group. That is way too much work. Gentlemen, thank you for the replies. You have given me something to do and hope.
  15. Read instructions in manual for third time. Got it to feed. Snow on ground. No solution to idiot groups.
