Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Cool! Congratulations, good job man.
  2. That is awesome. I use it for inspiration.
  3. OK, I'd consider selling it or trading for a .45 slide I guess.
  4. Yep, I'm considering that too. It would be the easiest and make the most sense, since the slide is in .40 already.
  5. Thanks TMC. I have a brand new Les Baer slide in .40 cut for Bomar sights. Got a really good deal on it from a buddy. Just bought a Colt 1991 in 9mm. It seems to be a great gun but it just isn't the same as a .45. Was thinking maybe to get a frame and build this up into one. "Might be cheaper just to buy a 45 slide. " My local gunshop does have some pretty good deals on thier .45s though so I am torn on just selling this slide and getting a .45 already made up.
  6. Let's say you had a slide sitting around in .40S&W and you want to build a .45. Can you just cut the breech a little bigger and that will work? Is the extractor hole the same size and the same distance from the edge of the slide? That's the only thing I can think of that would keep it from working. Or is it? Don't have one in .45 to compare it to. Not sure that's what I want to do even if it would work, just wondering. Sorry if this has been covered. I tried to run a search for this info and didn't come up with anything.
  7. I know that, but I guess i just can't help myself and forget occasionally. And I was really trying to repeat that time. I definately have seen a sizable performance improvement lately when I can just shoot, not "try" and "concentrate". Ruins my groove immediately every time. Thanks guys, John.
  8. OK. Help me out man. What would that be? I think I just got a couple lucky runs before, from what I learned tonight.
  9. I don't know about that Ron. Maybe I spoke too soon about having that Mozambique down. I just got back from the range and my best times tonight were 1.7 to 1.8, and I was missing the head shot sometimes at that speed. Maybe my 1.37 was a fluke? Or I just need to practice until I find that "zone" again.
  10. The Colt is working out pretty good. Picked up a 1991A1 in 9mm recently. So far it's been 100% reliable with ball. (Except for 1 stovepipe shooting SHO in a match, of course.) Was at the range the other day for a short time and busted out the timer right before we had to leave. Timed a couple mozambiques. First one was about 1.5. The second was 1.37. I had to look and make sure it was getting all 3 shots! My best times w/ the CZ-75 were like 1.9, mostly over 2.0. Same holster, (Safariland 560) I fight on the CZ to get a firing grip on the draw and still reach the safety with my short thumbs. The safety on the 1911 is right under my thumb. The Colt still doesn't feel as "right" in my hands, but it's so much quicker to get the first shot off for me. Plus a crisper trigger and shorter reset helps on the splits. Does this mean I'll have to change my name now?
  11. Thanks. No, it won't stay stock., but I'm not going to build an open gun or anything. I just shoot IDPA so far. Needs sights, beavertail, commander hammer, etc.
  12. Just got this last night. $439 NIB. Shot it just a little last night. Runs great so far.
  13. When and where would that be. I'm in NC and just started shooting some IDPA. I've not shot any 3 gun matches, but that sounds like something to see. I don't even have a shotgun. I guess 3-gun matches would be a good excuse to pick one up though.
