Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. BillR1, how was the accuracy before you sent the gun to smith?
  2. All, The last couple of days I have been at the range shooting both my 9 and 40 M&P's. I thought it was me but perhaps it is not. The accuracy of these guns suck. I thought perhaps it was my reloads however I tried several different loading scenarios against factory ammo with the same results. I have shot a G23 with excellent results hitting POA every time. I have tried different sight setups, and trigger parts with the same results. Very disappointed. Looks like I will be buying a Glock or a Sig 2022!
  3. mHello, I am thinking about getting a Sig 2022. This fits my budget over the 229 that I would really like to have. Reason for the 2022 over the M&P's I currently have? I want to try something other that a striker fired pistol. I am not real accurate with the M&P and I have heard excellent things about Sigs. Is it me or the gun? Don't know yet. Need to have a good shooter shoot my gun for that. Anyway thoughts? Thanks.
  4. I have not gotten a CZ yet. I just borrowed a CZ75B 9mm and shot a few rounds. I am impressed with its accuracy! Hope to shoot it a little more today. The one thing I don't like about it is the mags don't drop free. Can that be corrected with out sending it to a gunsmith? If I get one it will be 40 cal. I would lose to much in scoring in the league I am in with a 9mm being minor.
  5. I also have a m&p 40 and if I could shoot a tight group at 25 yds I would be really happy even if the group was 4in low at 25 yds. I put a big dot sight on mine and its great for 10yd and in. I can shoot pretty good left to right but vertically is the challenge using these sights. The 3 dot just did not work for me. Actually not sure what does work for me. I am interested in the CZ at the moment to give an all steel gun a try. Keep us posted.
  6. Can you give me more detail as to which models have the higher swept beavertail? What is FPB? How do I tell if a model has a decocker? Thanks.
  7. Hello, I am interested in getting a CZ. I have m&p's but just want to see how a CZ is to my liking. I am looking at either the 75 or 85 or 85 combat. I want to shoot some matches but don't know enough about the different divisions. I have a 9 and 40 and can reload either. Just want to shoot for the fun and competition and no I cannot afford a higher end CZ. Look forward to your response. Thanks.
  8. Hello, I am new to the types of competitions mentioned here. I am thinking about getting a CZ75 in either a 9 or 40. I like to shoot steel but some of the other competitions sound like fun also. Couple of questions; First is the basic CZ a good gun to start with? I am in my 50's and am not going to rise to the top but just want to have some fun. I was looking at 1911's but they seem to cost much more. I have a 40 cal already, a M&P, but I like the idea of an all steel gun with accuracy. Second question is 9 or 40? If I go with a 9 am I limiting myself to basically steel? Thanks for you help!
  9. Looks like I am getting a case gauge and a FCD. Anyone use a Lymon brand? I have only used Lee stuff but the Lymon looks good for the money. I like the set screw in the locking ring. Lee uses a nut.
  10. I am not sure what "case gauge" is. When you say "do they feed manually" what do you mean? What I do is put one round in the mag, load the mag, pull back the slide, hold for a moment and then release. I noticed that the slide moves forward but does not always completely chamber the round ie the slide is not all the way forward or takes its sweet time getting there. Now if the slide is locked back and I hit the release lever is will slam shut.
  11. What is a U die? Does a factory crimp die differ from a bullet seat and crimp die which is what I am using? I have feeding issues but am not using these bullets, I am using hard cast lead. THanks
  12. Hello, I am experiencing some issues with rounds not chambering but getting stuck while on the feed ramp. I am reloading to about 1.120" length and crimping with the Lee bullet seat and crimp die. Rounds check dimensionally just like factory rounds. Got any ideas on what I can check? I know the loads I am using are on the light side and I thought that maybe I was not getting enough energy to push slide back long enough to eject spent round and chamber the next. I am using 155 grain plated with 4.2 grain of 231. When a round sticks I just pull slide back and it will then chamber. Anyone know if the bullet seat and crimp die differs from a factory crimp die? I am using LEE dies. Thanks for your help.
  13. So is a 40 cal a minor caliber? I thought the 9mm was and anything at .40 or above was major.
  14. I have only shot one match and I was in production class. Would like to stay in that class. My m&p has a very good trigger and I am wondering how the cz trigger is. I can shot double taps no problem with the m&p.
  15. I have an M&P but I am thinking about getting a CZ 40 cal. Any suggestions on which model? I keep hearing how accurate they are, which is what is driving me to consider one. Thanks!
