Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. Thanks for the offer Mark but I just went back to my good old single red dot. Optics Planet sent it back to Burris and gave me a full refund.
  2. Mine didn't last 1 session and already got sent back to Optics Planet. Bad things: 1. I found the mount to be horrible. The optic would slide back and forth on a rail until I literally used a socket to tighten it down. I can't imagine the optic returning close to zero if I had to remove it and with the way the optic is designed, you can't just wrap a Larue around it. 2. During site in, I was hitting 6" low. I would make a few clicks, and the poi wouldn't change. I would make a few more clicks and nothing. Then after a few more clicks, the poi would jump to be 12" high. After going through 50-60 rounds, I was pissed. Fortunately I was also function testing a new rifle build so I had to run some rounds through it anyway. Note to self: Get a .223 laser boresight. 3. I hated the reticle. Way too busy with the numbers. Good things: 1. I really like the illumination. Having the option to go between black/red/green is cool when match directors keep switching up target colors. I hated running my Prismatic on black targets as the illumination wasn't really daylight visible but running a red dot on orange targets at 3 gun nation sucked as well. 2. The center dot was nice and crisp.
  3. Just wondering what zero y'all are using? Did you zero for the recommended 200? If you use for 55 FMJ's, any idea what happens with a 100 yard zero? Anyone found a good quick detach mount? I didn't see anything on Larue yet.
  4. Match was a blast! Fun stages with a mix of natural terrain and bays, got to see a ton of shooting buddies and made some new friends. Prize table was great. Can't wait for the next match that these guys put on. There are some cool photos and more reviews on the Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/events/1420092468233197/
  5. Hey guys, there are still open slots for this match so please pass the word to anyone that might be interested. Should be a great time!
  6. Wow, I totally missed the boat on these matches. Copperhead is 30 minutes from my house....after RO'ing Texas Multigun and Fallen Brethren the past couple years, I've never really been worried about registration dates...my bad! I registered today but I'm sure my waitlist number is in the hundreds!
  7. Wow, the stages look great. Definitely need to work on some shotgun loading! Can't wait to head on up there after work on Wed!
  8. This is what I do as well except I just toss the cases in a big Zip lock bag. Just mix up a batch in an old Windex spray bottle. Give the bottle a couple shakes as the lanolin likes to settle. A couple quick sprays into the bag and then shake, shake, shake. Plus since it's just alcohol and some nipple cream, you don't have to worry about handling/inhaling any more chemicals.
  9. Seeing the newbies that bring their 18" pumps to local matches, I have to disagree on the "less likely to hiccup" part. Between the short strokes while under the clock stress and shells catching on the chamber lip, my confidence in the pump has decreased greatly! Plus they go dry so darn quick! I stick with my tried and true AK for HD. Regardless of what rifle/shotgun you choose, make sure you have a quality light on it...monsters under the bed only come out after dark!
  10. My only warning about the extended end caps is......I've seen at 2 matches now in which the spring caught on the extension lip and bound up. At CMMG match, a guy took off his tube and couldn't figure out where in the heck the spring went....it was entirely stuck in the 1" end cap. I would suggest just buying the correct length tube or a couple in different sizes if you want to change capacities.
  11. Don't forget that an official shooting shirt will make you a faster shooter. If I remember correctly, you'll shave off .2 seconds for each logo! (at least that's the reason/excuse that I use for getting beat by the pros!)
