  1. For secured - theyre thinking MTM style or factory boxes where ammunition is physically separated as opposed to a bunch of rounds rolling around in a bag. 25/50/100 rounds in a box. 11# is roughly(if I remember this right) - 400x of 9mm 115gr or 300x of .40 180gr so yeah, its not a ton. Alaska is the one airline that lets you fly with up to 50# of ammunition for whatever reason. That includes the bag obviously otherwise youre paying the overweight charge. I have status on the airline so I dont usually have to pay for a 2nd or 3rd checked bag when I fly. If i'm coming back from a match, often times i will check the super locked down bag with my gun as well as a normal roller bag with my clothes - ALSO with whatever unshot ammo I have. At check in i'll tell them i'm checking 2 bags, and one of them has a unloaded fire arm. typically they then just weigh the bags, make sure neither are over weight, send the bag with the clothes/ammo down the conveyor and then tag/possibly inspect the firearm bag with TSA. Also - the little portable luggage scale that I got off amazon - its paid for itself several times over with zero overweight charges and not having to faff around at the check in counter shuffling things around to make weight.
  2. Can you go into a bit of detail about that? Curious what you use for the m-type/flaring and does this do something to prep the case better than the flare provided from the MBF powder drop insert?
  3. Made this video last week at Nationals and thought it might be interesting for some of you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M-VIjgHH24
  4. i ran out of ammo for my Singlestack so used some ammo that i had loaded up for my open minor, steel challenge gun. 5.6gr of AC, 1.150 with a MG 115gr jHp. I love it, its my default load now. its super blasty but the sights right back. made around 138pf for me out of a 9mm singlestack.

  6. Ive been curious about this myself for a while. I have 2 factory SV's - a limited in .40 and a Singlestack in 9mm. Our club just happens to have a ransom rest setup for 1911's - later this winter, i'll probably drag it out to the 50 yard line with the singlestack and see how it does. Ive heard that the SV is capable of 1.5in at 50 yards...... no idea what that is in meters
  7. i would say its going to be pretty dependent on what you use for case lube in the first place. If youre using the dillon stuff - they definitely tumble to get it off. I havent felt a need to remove lube when spraying cases down with 'one-shot'. Currently - I use this silicon spray called zep-par, that a local shooter turned us onto. its sold by the case but works really well. http://www.apmengineparts.com/010701.html
  8. just video yes - i shot open minor at nationals
  9. matt cheely did mine - super fast turn around time.
  10. 9mm 1911's are super finicky. For your mags that dont drop - is the slide dragging a round forward and the tip of the round hanging up and slowing down the mag when it drops? I have that issue with Tripp mags. Dawson mags go to slidelock with rounds still in the tube. havent tried metal forms yet.
  11. i had this happen to me and managed to fix it by going with a heavier mag release spring. The one i used before was pretty light, i'd tap it and a empty mag would just hang instead of falling a 100% of the time. Going to one slightly heavier than stock got it working a 100% I also polished the mag tube bodies with polishing compound - as a just in case. Theyve been good so far.
  12. Ok, to add a bit more context to this. Yes - in general they are a very good company to deal with. I love that you can call them up, get the current price list and get a giant bulk order freighted to a depot for a reasonable cost. they make a very good product, they just dont work for me. I have put around 35k of them down range over the last 2 years. Mainly the 147gr 9mm and the .40 cal 180gr HPCB. This is through either Schuemann Ultimach or SVI AET barrels. I have experimented with OAL and Crimp till I just gave up. Ive had reloaders with alot of experience check out my crimp on loaded rounds and what the pulled bullets look like. everything looks correct. Have tried with both Major and Minor PF - generally using either clays or n320 Plated in general does not seem to agree with AET(though svi is making and AET with a different twist that is supposed to work better for plated/moly) but I would still get fliers/tumblers through the Ultimach barrel. I would say from 10 yards in, they are usable for me. Past that and it becomes debatable. Earlier on this was not an issue as alot of the practice I was doing was at closer targets working on fundamentals. Now I find myself working on stuff at 15 yards + thats protected and it would be nice to know if its me or the gear thats tattoing the no-shoots A very large number of the shooters locally here love extremes and shoot them successfully. They just do not seem to work as well for me.
  13. at 20 yards off a bench - rainers and montanas give me a nice big hole. Extremes give me stick deltas and mikes. theyre good for hosing practice at 7 yards.
