  1. ,45acp and for USPSA Multigun, you can use doublestack, only limit is mag length (140mm.) Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  2. Up until this year, every place I shot 3G required a 45ACP single stack for Heavy Metal (could used extended mags, so long as it was <171mm.) This year, one place switched to USPSA Multigun, so double stack 45acp's are in play. They were all runnin' and gunnin' and there I was changing mags like a jackass. :-) I did pick up a G41 MOS, after all. SSVI trigger, Carver mag well, Ghost EVO Elite connector, Ghost springs. On the way, Dawson Precision sights, TTI mag extensions, and a KKM threaded barrel. This will get me to 17+1 and still fit in the USPSA box (although I didn't consider the length the threaded barrel would add...)
  3. I'd like that option, as I already have the mags and holster (bladetech) for it. I really don't care if it stays SA/DA; if it becomes a SA with a crisp, predictable trigger, that's good enough for me. My googlefu is weak. Do you know of any quality smiths working on FN hammer fired pistols?
  4. I occasionally shoot Heavy Metal division (~ 5-10 times a year), currently using a 1911 (10 round mags), but would like to start shooting a double stack for the extra rounds. I don't want to spend a fortune on it. I have an SV Infinity that I shoot well, but a new top end in 45ACP would be $$$$$. I've shot an M&P with an Apex forward set trigger that was good, but at only 10 rounds, I'm not picking up anything. I have an FNX in 45ACP, but I'm not accurate at speed because of the mushy SA/DA trigger. I know the XD is available in "competition ready" 45ACP, but it's made in Croatia (pass.) I'm considering a Glock G41 with TT mag bases. 17+1 and can probably get a decent trigger for it; I don't care for Glock's point angle, but think I can overcome that with a little practice. Before I start down the Glock road (not a big Glock guy), are there any options I'm missing?
  5. OK, dumb question: is the hammer reset?
  6. I have one of big T&N mags, but could never get it to run right in my MKA1919 "Match" model (the newest model with the moving feed lips.) I have 5 ten rounders and 5 five rounders that are all 100% functional, unmodified. No matter what I did, at around round 12-14, it did this (see photo.) I'd love to try the all steel 28 rounder (even at $200 a pop) or 18 rounder, but don't want to get stuck with another paperweight.
  7. You might also try a LanTac Dragon brake with a Blitzkrieg Components hydraulic buffer; that combo really knocked my recoil down significantly.
  8. I built a lefty using Stag upper/lower/BCG (during the 20 minutes they made a 9mm rifle.) Shooting a 9mm blowback kindda sucks when you're left-handed; I was really happy that Stag sold a lefty. I'm sorry I didn't know they would discontinue so fast, or I would have bought some spare parts while I could (spare BCG.) Luckily, most of the parts are stock Colt, so it's no big deal. The Stag magazines are very hit or miss, but Metalform mags are 100% reliable. I've since replaced the iron sights with an Eotech.
  9. Thanks, everyone. I ordered a hiviz competition (like the tricomp, except round.) We'll see how it goes.
  10. I finally got around to replacing my FN SLP with a left-handed Benelli M2. I've got it ready for the season (+9 extension, oversized Ti bolt knob, GG&G bolt release), but would really like to replace the factory front sight with a larger, brighter front sight. Who makes the largest, brightest front sight to replace the Benelli factory front sight?
  11. Ran into this issue yesterday at a match; going fast and overran the gun. I'll verify it's a problem (make sure it's not me), but once I do, I need to get this done. Do you know of any smiths offering this mod?
  12. I'll run it for a while first, and see how it goes. Thanks for the heads-up.
  13. Hmm, I didn't know it may become an issue. Did you weld material onto the bar? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  14. What model do you have? I have the "Match" that runs 100% (except for the 24 round mag, which won't run at all), but I've never used Rio's. I only use Federal Walmart specials and AA's.
  15. I don't have a picture of it installed, but the tube overhangs the barrel by about five inches. That was the original setup, but it really felt front heavy when I swung the gun. I ended up getting a shorter "turkey barrel", and it swings better. You could easily go + 9 and be fine.Thanks. Have you had a chance to try out the loading port cut yet? What do you think of it? Anything you would change?I did my last one like this: http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=375162 But I'm very tempted to do my new one like yours. Only practicing, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. The Supermag gives a little extra room, which is nice, too. If anything, I would have cut a little further into the "bridge", but the 'smith wasn't comfortable cutting into the base of the tube because it's soldered in.
