Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. My wife has been having some medical problems that have decreased her grip strength to the point she doesn't feel comfortable with gripping a handgun in competition. PCC will allow her to continue to enjoy the sport she loves. Now I just have to build a lightweight carbine...
  2. After practicing some reloads and seeing where I was getting hung up, I decided to go bigger. So dropped the cut down lower, extended the port another 1/8" or so forward until I could see the start of the tube's threads and deepened/lengthened the relief cut in front of the port. Beveled, radiused everything then polished it up with 1500 grit sandpaper wrapped around the Dremel. Came out surprisingly nice for freehand Dremel and file work. I'm not even gonna bother hand polishing it. Next up, cutting a relief/shell guide in the trigger guard
  3. Think I got most of the main cuts done on my port. Think I'll set the Dremel and big Bastard file aside for a bit, and break out the sandpaper. Not going real aggressive since I'm probably going to focus on twin loading for now. Going to polish it up and funnel the trigger guard and practice loading for a while before I decide if I need to go deeper. Got my order in tonite from MOA for 2 sided safety, follower, bolt handle and recoil pad.
  4. After reading P.Kelley's article and reading a lot of post I decided to pick up a m3000 last week for my first competition shotgun. It was a compact stock version 26". Gave it a cleaning and and took it out to the range with no mods. Ran buck, bulk pack 1 1/8oz 3 dram fed and win. A few reduced recoil 1oz slugs and even some Win supertarget 2 3/4 dram, 1oz 7 1/2s at 1180fps for function before I started chopping up the receiver. Ran everything without a hiccup, extraction very positive even with the mousefart supertarget loads. Slugs hit center of a 10"x10" plate at 50 yards. Very impressed to say the least. My mag tube was free of any major rough spots, so maybe Stoeger started machining them smoother like J.Tischauser suggested. Since the range trip I've read this entire thread for the wealth of information. I polished the mag tube, ordered and installed a full size stock. Ordered a +6 nordic and began conservatively opening up the loading port last night. Gonna place an order with MOA soon for a recoil pad, charging handle & follower. Then I'll need to research and grab caddies for load 2 (or maybe quads) Thanks everyone who posted helpful information, and Mr.Kelley for answering my questions before purchasing. This is going to be fun!
  5. 4.2gr WST with 230gr Precision or Bear Creek black bullet at 1.210. 170pf out of my Kimber and STI 45's. Soft, clean, accurate
  6. Aero-precision had (reportedly) 1500 stripped lowers go up for sale today for $200ea. I did order one, they sold out in just under 90minutes
  7. I sort mine and usually save a certain headstamp for precision loads that I sight the rifle in for and save for when I need the most accuracy I can get from my rifle. For general use/blasting ammo it all gets mixed together, even so I don't notice a tremendous change in accuracy
  8. Read through the law http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/S2230-2013 and don't see any exemptions. (It is a lengthy read though) As I understand it loading any magazine with more than 7 rounds is a Class B misdemeanor for first offense($200 fine, up to six months imprisonment) With the upcoming season of competition and the speed in which the law was passed, I hope these issues can be resolved
  9. +100. Ability to build library of toys, and an associated library of loads for each, plus rich bullet library, puts all other apps to shame (and I've tried 'em all), IMHO... Love Bulletflight!!!
  10. A woman goes into Cabelas to buy a rod and reel for her grandson's birthday. She doesn't know which one to get, so she just grabs one and goes over to the counter. The clerk was standing behind the counter wearing dark shades. She says to him, "Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me anything about this rod and reel?" He says, ?"Ma'am, I'm completely blind; but if you'll drop it on the counter, I can tell you everything from the sound it makes." She doesn't believe him but drops it on the counter anyway...... He says, "That's a six-foot Shakespeare graphite rod with a Zebco 404 reel and 10-LB. Test line. It's a good all-around combination, and it's on sale this week for only $20.00." She says, "It's amazing that you can tell all that just by the sound of it dropping on the counter. I'll take it!" As she opens her purse, her credit card drops on the floor. "Oh, that sounds like a Master Card," he says. She bends down to pick it up and accidentally farts. At first she is really embarrassed, but then realizes......there is no way the blind clerk could tell it was her who tooted. Being blind, he wouldn't know that she was the only person around? The man rings up the sale and says, "That'll be $34.50 please." The woman is totally confused by this and asks, "Didn't you tell me the rod and reel were on sale for $20.00? How did you get $34.50?" He replies, "Yes, ma'am. The rod and reel is $20.00, but the Duck Call is $11.00, and the Catfish Bait is $3.50." She paid it and left without saying a word.
  11. Welcome Jack. Thank you for your service!
  12. shadows are great out of the box. i would just change the recoil spring to 11# and hammer spring to 13# (federal primers) or 15# (everything else). hell, i shoot a stock SP-01 with sights. Thats what mine has. 13# hammer spring, but I prefer the feel of a slightly heavier recoil spring. 13# if I recall correctly
  13. Very Nice!! I usually shoot single stack and got the sp01 to shoot as a second gun in local matches. Found production div. not to help me so much in developing new skill sets... so I've been using it in Limited Minor. I love it! Been thinking about adding a comp hammer, SAO trigger, and maybe a magwell. Would be a great steel gun as well!
  14. Been wondering about that myself. Someone asked on the Area 8 Facebook page why no representation for A8 on the issue and the response was " Yes A8 was represented at the last BOD meeting. Its not 2013 yet. ALOT CAN HAPPEN between now and then." Sent an e-mail asking for clarification on why no vote was recorded and where he stood on the issue, no response yet.
  15. Motion: Production and Single Stack Appendix will have the following added: Each magazine must be contained individually within the magazine pouch. Magazines may not be retained through magnetic means. Effective January 1, 2013 Moved: A4 Seconded A5 Passed Another rule change question from the meeting. "Must be contained individually" does that mean that the mag dispensers like the SLMC 7 single stack mag holder will be illegal? Don't use one myself but have seen a couple guys using 'em at local matches
