Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Okay, I realize it is a sad day when most of my posts are in the "Don't Fit" forum rather than a shooting forum but such is my life at the moment. Situation, two sons age 8 and 5 and in need of replacing old hand me down portable electronic games. I am not a fan of these things but they are great in small doses for entertainment while travelling and at events (you can only tote so many books around and airports frown on an 8 year old dry firing). The Sony PSP seems to be sturdier and a better device, but is limited with E rated games. The Nintendo DS has tons of E rated games but does not seen as well built. Any feedback, opinions, recommendations? Some of you members are probably "gaming" types that play with these things. Thanks
  2. Your son handled the situation well; a product of good parenting. I remember writing on the score sheet 2 alpha 12 lines and then getting to line 13 and writing Charlie/Mike. He was laughing by the time to sign his score sheet. I bet he remembers to reload.
  3. I am the one who did the cartwheel, so I am glad no one got it on film. Teddy's reaction was better, and he won a gun.
  4. The Photomotionphotography pictures of the match are great. As an RO on the stage where Michelle was set up, she was great to work with. You really learn a lot looking at yourself on film.
  5. Slight thread drift but applicable. Is the blackberry system (i.e Pearl) better than the windows based system (Blackjack)? I have to get a new phone and comments seeme split between the two systems. I was about to post my own but found this thread. I thought additional questions might be helpful.
  6. Here is the website to the Jackson area club. We just had our montly match this past Sunday. I am sorry I did not see this post earlier, our power was off for four days due to recent storms. The State Match is coming up in May. http://www.teammagnolia.com/
  7. Thread Drift DanM -- The sailing does not look too bad. You only have 1 reef in the main and no water over your bow. Bill
  8. It had to happen at homecoming. Millsaps Class of 85
  9. BE'rs I am looking at purchasing two-way radios for me and my 7 year old son as safety equipment while camping and being out and about. Features that I rank high are: 1. Reliability, 2. Ease of use, 3. Rechargeable and regular battery (I have been told the rechargeable > ones are better because the regular battery one "eat" batteries), 4. Waterproof, 5. Cost, and 6. Range. Any suggestions? Thanks
  10. My father had a Range Rover Discovey which was manufactured during that time frame. He bought the vehicle because it was easy to get into for his back. The maintenance drove him crazy. Something was always beaking, those little $400 trips to the dealership, which grew to be more expensive problems. He ultimately gave the vehicle to my sister who quicky traded it in for another vehicle.
  11. As dajarrel mentioned, the Mississippi Classic a couple of years ago was shot in a monsoon. We did two things basically overnight once we learned it might/was going to rain: (1) We sprayed the taget with normal urethene (I think) that we got at HD/Lowe's/etc --one club member has a commercial prayer so we could do targets very quickly. (2) We took scaps of wood and made "hats" for the targets. The hat was screwed/nailed /stapled to the target stand. I think the "hat" was veneer scaps of something cheaper and lighter than plywood. I think we sprayed some targets before this year's match just in case. We plan to use them in a local match. Added at 5:29 PM From John Heiter's post in the rules section. -- There is a thread about coating targets. "We've done it using clear automotive laquer paint. We actually keep a set of "laquered" targets in our range building now just in case we have a storm come through during a major match. Keeps us from having to worry about bagging targets."
  12. I couldn't remember if Maureen O'Hara was in Jet Pilot. They never seem to show that movie as much as some others. Also, her scene in Big Jake was short.
  13. Also one of my favorites. Best movie quote, "here is a stick to beat the lovely lady." I like all the John Wayne/Maureen O'Hara movies. McClintock and the one where Maureen O'Hara is a russian fighter pilot. I can't remember if she is in Big Jake.
