Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Good Bye my friends! See you on the range. This is my last post. Sincerely Jess Christensen
  2. Interesting pointers by Toolguy. However ! It is like your car and the mechanic...he'll have to see and inspect it. otherwise it's guess work. In order to help yourself with this timing problem, you'll have to get it inspected by a professional. It's usually a simple fix, but sometimes it can become a real problem, if not dealt with that way. Just a thought.
  3. Thanks Doug, All right'ie then. Not even the guy walking with a gas can, with the DC ammo T-shirt on LOL. See you soon you Iowa steel monsters
  4. Hi all, Checked the web today for any updates on the Big Dawgs. Couldn't find any, so I hope it's going to be the same fun as usual. Just to be sure! Is the dates July 22-24? Doug..Mike.. See you there soon. PS. another van trip with 2 X Roger's. Good grief ! What a revolver Mafia.
  5. This trip will bring back some old memories for me ! Last time I was there shooting bowling pins, was exactly 20 yrs. ago. well...weeeelll as Bubber would say, just a side note.
  6. Interesting. Anyway, anything mechanical gets worn over time. Remember an article with Dave Arnold..I think it was, writing about lead bullets in G&A back in the early 80's. He said that if using lead bullets, any revolver accuracy will last forever. However, FMJ's would be a different ball game. I have a 686 that use to shoot 1-2" at 50yds.with 125 XTP using a scope on it. Now, after app.35-40 K rds. it shoots 3-4". Remember when I worked at Wilson's. Barnhart and other topshooters, had their 1911 barrels changed after about 50K rounds. Ok ok, I just may be too scientific about it. What do you guys think...or have experienced ?
  7. Hi all, We have room for 1 more revolver freak in Mr.Reids van. We're leaving NW Arkansas May 30 very early in the morning. Send me a PM if interested. Jess Christensen
  8. Greetings Bill, Count me in. My entry form goes out tomorrow. Comming your way with Bubber, Reid, using Mr.Reids midnight express travel agency. Jess Christensen
  9. Interesting info and topic. I've heard..and read, that if however, you don't use the right bullet dia. for a specific caliber, you'll have some gas blow by in the barrel. This may not always affect accuracy, but may/will shorten barrel life. The theory goes something like this. The bullet doesn't fill out the barrel dia. completely, and skids the rifling most of the way out the bore. Also the fast moving gasses, that by passes the bullet, has a hot sandblasting effect on the lands/grooves. Hard to figure out, whats true facts here...or simple just webside hear say. Does anyone here know something solid about this topic? Mike?
  10. A couple of questions before we go to IRC. Is it allowed to use 2 different revolvers, if both qualify in the same division. And is it Ok to use different ammo in the match (like XTP for Far and Near only). Both with the correct power factor etc. Can't find these answers !
  11. Like to know how many have signed up for the IRC so far ! In the divisions and from what countries ???
  12. Different trades...different tools. You can almost use a S&W revolver for most action games. ICORE, USPSA, IDPA, Steel Challenge, Bowling Pins, Bianchi Cup. I spend a lifetime with revolvers, and will never get tired of them. Do have a lot of pistols, but nothing has more gun-personality than a revolver. Especially, if you have won serious matches with it. Ok the Luger, Baby Browning, 1911, and maybe the PPK has that thing about them too ha ha. Interesting that a design from 1899, still rules 99% of serious revolver action sports...well not counting the SAA design, which is a completely different story. Life would simply not be the same without a 627,625,686,617,642,29,25, and if I could have only one carry gun, it would be Scandium/titanium 45 ACP w/3" barrel and nite-sites...can't remember if that is the 325 ?
  13. Break down and get yourself a 627 8-shot. Life is not the same without one. Yeah ! Steel challenge here we come etc.
  14. Still,I wonder if someone from the IRC, can tell how many have signed up so far ? Open, limited, Classic, other countries. Just curious to know. See you guys real soon.
  15. Anyway ! Thats the problem...no trunk in Reids van. So whats the word ! How many have signed up so far ? Are they comming from all over the world. Ok Bianchi first, then ICORE. This time I'm going to practice hmm. ha ha.
