I purchased a slide from CZC earlier this year, however I'm hearing that the supply from Czech Republic has been very limited lately. Your best bet is to call CZC and ask.

I wish I had enough time to get better at shooting. Instead I just blow money on cool guns that collect dust in the safe while I try to maintain a declining skill set shooting a local once a month if I'm lucky. Adulting is tough, but at least I haven't resorted to shooting PCC. Yet.

CZC sells new complete Shadow 2 slides for $695. Your price should probably be about 15-20% below that assuming the slide is lightly used.

Yes, that's correct. The Springer Precision basepads for 17rd CZ mags will fit the 10 round MecGar mags. I'd recommend adding numbering for only another $1 each, very useful for identifying mags.

Mec Gar 10 rounders have been perfect for me with Springer basepads. No reason to look at anything else.

Yeah, the weight limit is still 45 oz, but you can now mill the slide. If you want it to be easy, get an SP01 Shadow and a widely available spare upper. No searching for a hard-to-find spare upper, only milling for sight mounting, very little hassle. If you want to make it hard but end up with a slightly better gun that would probably have very little effect on your placing at matches then get the Shadow 2, get Stuart to put you on the waitlist for a spare upper, get the spare upper milled for weight reduction and sight mounting, then put it all together. The Shadow 2 is a better gun. The Shadow 2 is also harder to make into a CO gun. Pick your poison and remember that practice will have a much greater influence on your match scores than which version of Shadow you shoot.

The Shadow 2 is too heavy for CO without significant machining to get the total weight below 45 oz with empty mag. You'd probably be better served with a SP-01 Shadow, extra slides are available and will make weight easily.

It's going to rust. Spend a day on the range with high humidity - rust. Light drizzle during a match - rust. Hot day, hands get sweaty - rust. You've spent a bunch of money on a custom gun, spend a couple hundred more and get it finished.

Does that matter? Is the Shadow 2 Accu on the list? Can I mill a slot into the top of a G17 because the G34 has one? I'm just saying that 21.2b says milling is not permitted, but Troy seems to be OK with milling threads for the accu bushing into the slide of a Shadow 2. It seems like a contradiction.

Kydex holsters for use in USPSA have evolved over the last few years. There are two primary parts you'll need to consider: The belt attachment and the kydex "pouch" itself. A rigid belt attachment is very important to getting a clean draw with no flexing of the holster. The BOSS hangar from Ben Stoeger Pro Shop and the Red Hill tactical belt hanger are both great options that do pretty much the same thing. The Blade Tech DOH attachment is made of injection molded plastic and tends to have a lot more flop than the aluminum hangars. For the kydex pouch, Blade Tech has been the standard for a long time. They make a good quality kydex pouch and have immediate availability for most models. Red Hill Tactical is a relative newcomer, and make a double-layer pouch that is even more rigid than the Blade Tech. I recently got a RHT holster for my Shadow and am very happy with it. They also have significantly more customization options to choose from. The downside is that you'll probably have to wait a few weeks for delivery. I'd recommend trying to buy a hangar+holster package from BSPS or RHT. Good luck.

My four 2011s and my one single stack all have pinned grip safeties. There is no real reason to keep the grip safety active, and it will just cost time if you end up with a sub-optimal grip on a rushed draw.

So if I understand this correctly, Troy is now invalidating 21.2b? Can I mill front serrations into a Glock since that is now a factory option that is present on a different listed gun by the same manufacturer? I just don't get these "clarifications" that seem to directly contradict the text in the rulebook.

My personal experience has been great with a local builder. My gun was built using parts that I purchased or won (vetted by the builder), to the design that I sketched, and with the build choices that suited me. I was able to get a gun built in a few weeks, shoot it for a month, go back and make a few small changes, shoot it some more, make a couple other small changes, then send it off for finishing after everything was perfect. The gun has been incredibly reliable, and came out exactly as I had hoped. When I was an idiot and stripped a scope mount screw, I was able to drive to the gunsmith's house on a Friday night the week before an area match to have the screw extracted. If I ever break anything else, I can give the gun to the smith at the local match and have it back within a week without paying for shipping or making a special drive to go to the shop. There is a lot of value in having a local smith, especially for open guns. Parts will break, and having to pay shipping fees both ways and hope nothing happens in transit is not fun.

It is a great idea, works well, and is designed and made in California. Dillon should have done this to begin with.
