Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. I would still like an 8 shot L frame in 327 federal magnum, with a 5" or 6" barrel. If we are going to dream big it could be moon-clipped and chambered in 30 super-carry. I am sure all those ammo manufactures that geared up for production of the 30 super carry might be happy. A titanium cylinder would be nice, but I am not sure it could handle the pressure.
  2. I recall KC Eusebio was using a large Trijicon scope at the Steel Challenge at Lake Piru in either 2013-2014. Found some video from Europe in 2014 using it.
  3. If you have A Steiner MPS would someone please put a set of calipers on one and measure the length for me? Steiner's sales literature lists the length at 2.17", yet the technical department says it is 1.81".
  4. Good to see you back posting Mike, I hope all is well with you. I am not aware of who the current USPSA officers are, or president. Do any of them have a classification in revolver at all or shot a revolver in USPSA?
  5. I had finally decided to break my oath, and actually get an 8 shot revolver. My first firing pin in frame S&W I bought, an L frame was a mess. It's only saving grace was it would shoot any bullet weight and powder I put in it dead nuts accurate. After a trip to a gunsmith who I had always wanted to work on my gun, it is perfect, I love the damn thing. That was going to be the last new S&W (Lock, firing pin in frame) I was going to buy. I decided for an 8 shot gun I would get one of the new Ruger Super GP100 8 shot guns when they became available again. I have contacted Ruger customer service, and they still are in production, just no ETA on when they will resurface for the past year or so. I am sitting down tonight catching up before I go climb into the rack, and what appears in an ad from a gun store. The 8 shot Ruger I have been waiting for? No! I am sure there is a reason behind the "Need" for this revolver, maybe handgun silhouette is making a comeback. I am not sure, but I find it hard to believe there would be more demand for this, over the Super GP100. https://ruger.com/products/superRedhawkStandard/specSheets/5526.html
  6. Thanks I thought that might be the case. A few of the guys in the matches I watched, I think one was in Poland, did appear to be using six shots.
  7. I also would really enjoy seeing you guys shoot if you are able to post some of the stages. I have seen some the European shooters posting on the IPSC Revolver Facebook page from their matches. It seems a lot of the stages there are 6 round neutral in the European IPSC matches. If this is the case with this match, I would be interested also to hear what you think of possibly shooting 6 shot major.
  8. SHOT Show is coming up in January. If Vortex and S&W are going to release new products from this my guess is they will be shown there.
  9. I wonder if this will have any impact on primer availability or pricing in the future? https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/other/czech-it-company-gobbles-up-us-ammo-manufacturers-remington-federal-cci-and-others-being-sold-off/ar-AA1izXil?ocid=msedgntp&pc=DCTS&cvid=91f261e607c541049aaf0abe1c2e4daf&ei=31
  10. No experience with the 220gr SNS bullet. In .40S&W I use a Bayou Bullets 200gr RN over 3.9 of Universal. It is clean, accurate and makes 170pf out of my 6.5" 610. If I recall there were some pressure issues with 40S&W, heavy bullets, and Clays, not sure if it was resolved with loading long or not.
  11. For what it is worth this is what S&W has posted on their YouTube page. I hope that S&W will do some editing and commentary of the actual run and post it in the future, at least that is what I would expect. It is just my opinion, but the choice of music in this video would seem to indicate how completely out of touch with the revolver market audience the S&W marketing team is.
  12. Well I am going to suggest trying the most painful, slippery, and seemingly awkward grips I tried on an N frame major gun. I would say give the JM broomstick grips a try and see how those feel. Using them on an N frame shooting minor and CHECKERED is actually pretty good.
  13. Check if your wife has any dryer sheets and give the loaders a wipe with those. That should knock the static down on the plastic and then try the air to clean off any dust. The static will return, so if the dryer sheets work, pack a few in your range bag.
  14. You know Dave I just gave up on why and how these manufacturing decisions are made. S&W make the exact same gun as a 6 shot in the 4" version...... https://www.smith-wesson.com/product/l-frame-11759 I went and read the IDPA rules after answering his question. In SSR, the part would have to offered on a factory gun. It does not specify dimensions however. So if someone wanted to argue(Game it) and could get the part from S&W on the above L frames it does meet the wording in the IDPA rulebook for SSR. If you showed up at a match to shoot SSR with the above gun a factory offering would they make you change the cylinder release to compete? SSR-Cylinder latches may be changed to another factory offering from the firearm manufacturer In enhanced service revolver it says aftermarket is allowed, but specifies dimensions. ESR-Cylinder latches may be modified or replaced, but may not protrude past the frame in any direction and may not be thicker than 3 /8" as measured from the side plate of the frame. The release Hogue made for the GP100 would also be out for SSR and ESR it would seem.
