Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. Please put me on the list as well. Thanks.
  2. Hi Everybody, I've read various instructions on how to polish the trigger components in the polymer pistols, but was wondering if any one has some suggestions on what to use to round the edges of the firing pin block on the Glock and M&P pistols. The trigger job instructions on Dan Burwell's site says to use a 3M polishing wheel, but does anybody know which one? http://www.burwellguns.com/misc/M&Ptriggerjob.pdf What I normally do is chuck the firing pin block into my cordless drill and then put some Flitz or other polishing compound on a rag and apply pressure to it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I suppose I could just use a scotch brite pad if necessary. Thanks. Ed
  3. What you need is this: http://harveydeprimer.com/
  4. I have a Caspian Hi-cap frame and want to know if anybody here has "modified" it so that the SVI ITS trigger will work with it? I was thinking about somehow installing the ITS trigger onto the Caspian trigger bow or if there's an easier way to accomplish this. If so, can you give me some pointers on how to do this? Thanks.
  5. Yes, the hi cap frame does have an integral plunger tube. The frame in question doesn't come with the small parts that it normally does, just the stripped frame. I already have another Caspian 1911 singlestack frame that I plan on building as a 9mm gun, but was kicking around the idea of using the hi-cap frame as another gun to use for IDPA. I priced everything out and I'm not sure if going with this frame will be worthwhile. It's going to run another $110-120 in Caspian parts. I think I'm going to pass on this frame and build up the singlestack and wait for another one to come along. I do have one additional question for you. I was wondering if you could comment on how soft your hi-cap Caspian shoots, since it's a metal frame and all. Thanks for your input.
  6. Thanks Joe. It would be built for IDPA use. I would probably have it machined anyway so that any type of ammo would be reliable to use. The problem that I have here is that I'm in CA and it's kind of hard to find new, stripped frames for sale. I do have an additional question about these frames. Do you know if it will accept any standard parts? I believe the grip safety is proprietary and a Caspian must be used, but what about the other parts? Mainspring Housing, Ambi-Safety, Trigger, and Magazine Catch. Don't know if STI/SV parts would be compatible with this frame. Thanks.
  7. Hi Everybody, I wanted to get your opinion on the Caspian Hi-Cap frame. I have an opportunity to buy one at a fairly good price. It's the unramped .45ACP version. I was thinking about doing a 9mm build and will probably need to have the frame machined for the ramped barrel. Any thoughts on using this frame for this build? Bad idea? Thanks. Ed
  8. It is for the standard M&P's, the 5" guns use a .180. Any idea on the stock rear sight height on the 5" guns? Thanks.
  9. Hi Everybody, I'm contemplating my first custom limited gun and wanted to get some opinions on the build. I've pretty much made up my mind on a bushing-less barrel setup. 5" short dustcover, 5" long dustcover, 5" hybrid (sight tracker) or 6" short dustcover? Polymer, aluminum, or stainless grip? So many choices, but those are my main concerns. Everything else should be easy, right? I would appreciate some advice on the pros/cons of each setup. Thanks. Ed
  10. I had the Springfield Custom Shop fit me a Barsto barrel. Very pleased with it's accuracy and I think their prices are VERY reasonable for the work being done.
