Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hello All, I bought an STI LS9 on GB a few months ago. I want to update the springs in the gun but I haven't found any info on them and STI discontinued them. Any one have some experience with them? Thanks!
  2. Thanks, I pulled the top of the gun off and was able to get all mags to work with proper over travel stop adjustment. Once I put the top end back on the trigger was hard to pull again. Off to the Smith it goes...
  3. Update. Without the benefit of a caliper. I did measure the magazines and they appear to be similar. Between the ones that work and the ones that have a hard trigger pull. .Also, I pulled the top and off the gun and there doesn't appear to be anything hitting or sitting differently in the gun. I also backed the overtravel screw out and there appears to be no difference. A friend of mine had a suggestion that maybe the Grip was loose. It isn't I am going to take this to Red Dot Shooting and have GM David Pruitt take a look at it. Thank you for all of your replies. I will post an update when I get it back.
  4. Hey guys and gals, I have a mag issue I need some advice on. I bought a used STI executive 2011.40 it came with 2 old style SVI tubes and Dawson bases .I then switched the plastic stock grip with a xtreme shooters DVC style grip that's Gray. I then bought four Brazsos tuned magazines and so far they have been running great. I don't use the old SVI tubes because the trigger pull is really hard. Today while practicing one of the Brazos mags started messing up. Again a hard trigger pull. Will tubes change dimension over time? Is that simply and overtravel stop issue? Has anyone else experienced an exceptionally hard trigger pull with different mags? Could my grip be warping? Thank you in advance for your help.
  5. Let me preface this all to say I am an equipment whore. I love guns and I love shooting multiple platforms. I started with the XDm from SA in .40 just because of limited major scoring. I subsequesntly sent it to Matt and Powder River Precision for a new barrel, high grip relief, SS pins, a multitude of other upgrades as well as Taran Tacital base pads. Its a great gun. Amything I could do to it I did. I shot it for 4 seasons. I then moved to STI and 2011's because I pefer rhe weight and trigger. Given what I know now, I should have had a 1911 variant from the start. I just prefer it. I still have the XDM but I now exclusively shoot my Executive. Would have been nice to save the $1,700 I have in the gun for ammo or reloading. The guy didn't make me better practice did. However, i do love new guns. On a side note, Vogel shot his 34 limited in Open and finished 3rd in the Worlds.
  6. I do not on my 2011. I think it takes too much away from my left hand strength.
  7. I say do it. Your goal if I am paying attention is to still enjoy shooting and uspsa but your eyes are failing you. While you won't compete at a high level with the round count, you won't have a ton of money wrapped up in a build. This type of gun would also work extremely well in Steel Challenge. The stationary shooting position, high contrast of targets, and 5 strings of 5 shots negates the bigger mag issue. Shoot it in both.
