Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. Don put a couple $1,000 discount certificates on the table at Battle in the Bluegrass 2015. I was fortunate enough to get one of those. I sure appreciate him supporting that match, I just stopped by his shop Saturday to order my build. I got to handle several examples of his work. All of them felt great and looked great, I can't wait to get mine and put some rounds through it. Get on the build list now....

    Byron's log

Update.... Recently shot a special classifier match, if I did my math right and assuming classifiercalc.com is correct, I may be moving to A class in production. I don't have any vids of that match, but I did shoot my first GM level classifier. Shot Razor's edge 0 down in 5.35 for a 99.812% Here's a vid from a recent Gun Warehouse match: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WItTvYQ7jDo&feature=youtu.be
  3. Where's the dang like button.......
  4. For the last year to 15 months I've been dropping STI mags with Dawson basepads on concrete floors,,,,,haven't had any issues or damage and I shoot almost exclusively indoors/on concrete.
  5. Ding Ding Ding on that practice point. Me and my ratty looking 6 inch Eagle beat guys classed higher than me shooting full customs pretty often. But, I find myself being drawn more toward Production these days so I can shoot a little more affordably on the ammo side.
  6. Not if you don't let it. There are other very good alternatives available. Pat Exactly,,,,,I'm done with the equipment race (Limited and Open). I'll just be happy to shoot more/invest in lead. I have my last Limited gun......it'll do.

    Irregardless

Let me offer sum advise, their are people that use words like that all the time, weather or knot ewe agree with how they use there words, ewe should support and love them irregardless. Seriously, I know what you mean, it is really annoying.
  8. This is why, I'm moving more and more toward production, and picking up some IDPA....I understand market demands and if you have the money and the suppliers can get the prices, good for each of them, but this could be a market limiting factor. I REFUSE to pay that kind of money... I make a pretty good living, but I can't see going well over $5K into a Limited gun by the time you get mags and such. The prices of used guns have skyrocketed as well. Again, I get it, supply and demand. I have a feeling, I've already bought my last Limited gun (lightly customized 6 inch Eagle) and I'll never get a chance to get back into open....you gotta pay if you want to play, however, there are a hell of a lot of other things I want to play and if I drop all my money on equipment, then I don't get to play this game nor any other. So, I will officially be driven out of Limited someday,,,,if anytyhing ever happens to that gun and I can affordably/safely repair it, I may be "out". So, it is more Production, SS (with factory guns), SSP, and ESP.... Byron
  9. Simple, calculate it with the standard set for each class. If GM is top 5 percent, the bottom score at that top 5 percent becomes hhf. That should create a sliding scale that should align with the rest of the classification system. Also, I know there is no way in the world this would happen, but for years I have said there should be downward mobility in the classification system as well. Sandbaggers are going to game the system anyway, but why not encourage some consistency in shooting? Now, you can 'hero or zero' classifiers with no penalty, so there is no risk to trying to grandbag, completely blow a classifier,,,,,,who cares, it won't count against you. The one way nature of classification systems in most of the shooting sports I play is something that has bothered me, but I just go on as I like shooting.
  10. I've mentioned this to Brian before, BUT, keep in mind, there have been forums for years and year. BUT, this forum is one of the first really successful social media sites I can think of. He pre-dates Facebook, twitter, myspace, and etc by YEARS. Keep in mind, Brian paired the social aspects of a forum with business aspects.....the vedor areas and advertising and such YEARS before the rest. This site is though hugely popular in our shooting community, is relatively unknown outside of it, but was proving out social media business integration LONG before it became "cool". I was a lurker in the earliest days,,,,becoming an active member about 11 years ago.
  11. I have one on the way right now. ......
  12. Well then, if bushings are so great, give the people bull barrels in 5 inch singlestacks, after all, if I want a sucky fat heavy barrel, why not? Why do I get the feeling people would still argue??? :-)

    Byron's log

Things I've noticed over the last few weeks since I haven't been traveling as much over the last month. I think my actual shooting is back to about what it was before I left the sport for my 7 year hiatus. Things seemed to have smoothed out a lot, I think I may be a bit more efficient, and though they are still an area of focus me entries/exits are better than they used to be, my accuracy and consistency is coming back, but damn I move slow compared to 8 or 9 years ago. Still love the game, wish I could shoot more bigger matches, but it is, what it is for the time being. My Thursday night shoots are like my little super bowl. LOL....
