Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Well I lucked out. I went back to guns ect and was able to talk to Ron (the owner). Lo and behold he had one tucked away at the back of and isle. The belt was about 8" bigger than I needed but I was able to cut it down. I did check scotsdale gun club, dillon prescision and one other shop that I forget the name of and no one had any in stock. Thanks for the help thou, I appreciate it.
  2. dummy rounds are used for reload practice. A case with a dead primer, NO POWDER and a bullet seated on top. Went out shooting with a buddy today and discovered that the rounds are poping out of the mag when they hit the dirt. Good call on that one Duane!
  3. Any Arizona shooters know of a phx metro area shop that carries any safariland comp stuff? I looked at mini gun shop, pistol Parlour, guns ect, aji, even Dillon does not show any in stock and the big box places and can't find what I need. I am looking for the Velcro under belt for a safariland outer that I own and I would like to purchase locally, I'm not a big fan of online buying. Any lines on where to look would be great.
  4. I run 1.215 COL, so I wouldn't think they are to short.
  5. The live rounds I would find were allways 1-2' to my right so I wasn't sure if they were just flying out and right of the ejection port or if they were poping out of the mags as they hit the ground. I do practice speedloads but I do it over a ground pad in my garage to keep the mag from smashing into the cement floor. I never had any rounds jump out of the mags on the softer landing on the ground pad.
  6. Update. I cleaned my mags on Monday, 2 colt 9 rnd, 2 Wilson 10 rnd and 1 Chip 10 rnd. I shot a match last night with no issues. I am thinking it was some strange mag issue.
  7. Wish I was kidding. The first couple of times it happened I thought maybe a round in my shirt pocket fell on the ground when I bent over to pick up brass. Stopped putting a round in my shirt pocket and I would still find the occasional round when picking up. When I went out this weekend for some practice the area was clear and my pockets were empty. But the evidence was there in the dirt. G-man, good point I will check the round count tomorrow night (shooting a match).
  8. Rudy Warren makes and sell's Billy bullets, I run them with 6.6 grains of power pistol. Soft shooting and accurate for me, $34 for 500. Unless you run a comp they are worth looking at. 125 grain .357 dia CN nice shooters for my colt.
  9. I run a colt .38 super and after some fiddling I finally got it to run correctly(ftf issues). I have noticed in the last two matches that I ran I would find one or two rounds un-fired per stage. This weekend I went out and shot the weapon and sure as s$&t I had two live rounds laying on the ground after a 100 round string. What should I be looking at to rid myself of this issue. Mechanically the gun is stock minus a F.L.G.R. , 18# recoil spring, Wilson commander hammer and Lightened hammer spring.
  10. Jimmy m, I have been out there and just watching the shooters a few times in the last 3 months. I have been working out a few issues with my .38 super before I run a match. I am just looking for some basic advise before I run my first match. I know that new shooter's have to run a saftey class. I am just looking for some generic advise before shooting my first match. Badchad, that's what my dad tells me and I still keep jerking the crap out of the trigger.
  11. Here it goes. I watched my dad do this stuff for years, revolvers, auto's, 3 gun, 5 gun, ect( B.E. Mike said "yo"). What happened? Everyone uses kydex and aluminum for "speed leather" nowadays. Anyhow.... I really like shooting, mainly for fun and hunting. I have decided to start shooting Tuesday night steel at the usery pass range. I have been practicing draw and fire from surrender position and reloads. Any advise for a newbie ready to start playing the game?
  12. I use a 16 year old Rock tumbler and it seems to work great. Takes about 3 hours to get the scuzzy brass good and clean.
