Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. Now in reading the thread title I didn't come to that impression. I thought along the line of "What makes Irv's barrel worth me shelling out $200.00, when I have a perfectly good "free" barrel that came with the gun?" I think it has been said already, but if you want/need a good barrel then a BarSto barrel is a very known commodity. Ray

  6. As just a shooter... I would like to see maybe 2 or 3 copies of the written stage description in the "shooter waiting area" for that stage. I find all too often the stage description gets tucked back onto the clipboard and you never get a chance to see it again. Personally I try to listen, but if I miss something I would like the opportunity to read it over. That would save me from asking questions later, ie. "Surrender or hands at sides?" Just the view from a humble C class shooter. Ray
  7. Drain plugged maybe? Flex, mscott has it right. It is your condensate drain. You can do several things...1) blow back through the tubing to try and clear it, or 2) This one is a big IF...if the installers weren't total a-holes and glued all the pipe together..you can seperate it and gently knock the crud out. You may have a "p" trap in the line. This is where 99% of blockages occur. Ray
  8. While we are on the subject it seems to me there were three of these. SNAFU, FUBAR and I can't remember the third. Any idea? It believe it's TARFU...Things Are Really F****d Up. Ray
  9. I use CCI unplated SP primers. They go through the 650 like crap through a goose. I don't see why the LP's would not also. My 650 has functioned flawlessly with whatever brand of primers I had available. Ray
  10. Merlin, If I was in your shoes...I would think about drafting a letter to Ford. Detail about the incompetent mechanics, the "forgetting" to give you back your "broken" parts, and the "conversation" with the service manager. I'd also say that they value you as a customer so much that you were asked never to return. My next question would be "I'm a loyal Ford owner, being asked not to return does not put me in a good mood to buy another Ford. What can be done to keep my loyalty?" Things will never get any better other people, if the head honcho's don't know about the crappy service some dealerships give. Plus you may get something knocked off you bill, it's at least worth a shot. Ray
  11. Rich, For finger shooting shooting I'd try to find the longer axle to axle bows. I don't think they make it anymore but the Mathews Conquest comes to mind as a great finger bow. You get too much finger pinch if the a to a gets too short...but that's drawlength dependent. The shorter your drawlength the shorter a to a bow you can comfortably shoot with fingers. Looking at the Martin site..I'd pick the Scepter or the Cougar with dual cams. Looking at the Hoyt site...You're right on with the Montega. Just my $.02 Ray
  12. First, I'd try spraying the pin with a good penetrating oil like Kroil. Second, I'd try to put the whole frame in the coldest freezer I could find overnight. Then try gently drifting out the pin. the combination of lubrication and contraction might be enough to get it out. Ray
  13. I'm with Z on this...super comfy. They are the ultimate house slipper. I have a knockoff brand of them. They absolutely rock for fishing. I will admit they look a little gay. I'm married.... I no longer have to impress other people with my fashion sense. The only downfall to them is the lack of arch support. My feet will start to hurt after several hours of standing or walking in them. Ray
  14. I have "built" two guns from the Short Block kits. One Open and one Limited. The first, Open took me about 2 weeks of fiddling with all the parts to get it to work. The Limited went together in 2 days. I learned a lot in putting all the parts together. I know what brands of parts I like and have my reasonings why. I have a great local smith that I took both guns to after I had finished them. I had him go over them and do all the safety checks and "tweaks" that I might have missed. He came up with some suggestions and told me why. I think he liked that he didn't have to do a lot of work, and that I was interested in the whole "how a 1911 works" process. Well worth the $50 or $100 I was charged. I now have two guns, built to my specs, that are 100% reliable. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Ray
  15. I waited about 6 weeks as per my doctors advice. It sucked, and I probably could have gone back sooner...but it's your vision you're playing with. Follow all instructions exactly as written / given and the surgery will be a breeze. The aftercare is pain, but I followed it to the T. At my 1 year follow up, the doctor couldn't find the incision. He attributed that to me actually following the aftercare to the T and not shortcutting it. Welcome to the wonderful world of no more glasses or contacts. Ray
