  1. Anybody know if there is a oversized bolt/charging handle that will will with the Remington V3 shotguns? At first look, it appears be the same as a 1100/11-87, but the V3 has a protrusion on the bottom.
  2. Let the load, BCG weight, buffer weight and recoil development begin! I have had my 9mm SBR for over a decade, used to use a Hahn mag block, this time I form 1'd a CMMG MK9 lower. Let the testing begin!
  3. I put a 90 mount on my DVC, which made me have to put my racker on the right. I hated it. I bought one of the slide rackers from Shooters Connection and had my GS fit it to the slide. Worth every penny spent. That said, I still can't get used to running an open gun. lol
  4. Fascinating! Both the Ghost and the TTI have a similar feel? Yep, they both "feel" exactly the same to me. That said, I don't have a gauge to give concrete data, Just my feelz!
  5. The ejector is a 5 minute job to change, and while it is a good idea to change the ejector, you would be very surprised of how many folks with 9mm/40 Glocks don't bother with changing it and swap upper halves all the time with no issue.
  6. I have two g43's. My first one had the worst trigger in a Glock that I have ever encountered. I put a Ghost Edge connector in it, Taran didn't offer one at the time. and polished up the usual surfaces. My second G43's factory trigger was much better than the first. This time I ordered the TTI connector when I ordered the +2 base pads. Installed connector and did my usual polish work. Both guns feel the exact same to me now.
  7. TG with Moly coated bullets will smoke badly. TG with the Hi-tek coated bullets (Bayou,Sns etc:) will smoke, but it is barely noticeable. I use TG with my .40 major PF loads with either Bayou or SnS bullets, and to me, the low charge weight of TG outweighs the slight smoke issue. For my 9mm suppressed AR SBR, I have used 147gr coated bullets from, again, Bayou and SnS. This load stays subsonic for the SBR, 7" barrel, but will make minor PF for my G34.
  8. One can only hope that Cmore finally decides to update their optic. While I like the size and shape of the current Cmore "window", the rest of it is old, clumsy and in dire need of diet in both weight and size. I wish Binary Engineering would get his designed optic figured out, as the RTS2 with is small "window" doesn't appeal to me at all.
  9. Tagging this for future updates. I have had my 9mm Open DVC for a while now and only have about 500rds through the gun due to work and a hand injury. Mine has been flawless with major PF ammo, but I am still chasing the right load and spring combination, as I still think there is too much gun movement. This is my first Open gun, and I am not sure what to expect in regards to making a comp work effectively. I have also changed out the cmore mount to a Cheely sideways mount, dot just to high over the bore for me.
  10. I have one of the new STI DVC 9major Open guns, no issues with the factory mount, gun ran great with major PF ammo. That said, I did install a 90 mount as I had issues finding the dot. Years of shooting iron sighted pistols, I needed the dot lower to the bore.
  11. Barrel and comp are a single unit on the DVC. I would obviously protect the barrel crown in some manner, shouldn't be too hard. I am actually more worried about damaging the metal than I am about appearance of the comp. I may dig up some old drill bits that have the TiN coating on them just to test, but knocking the finish off the comp wouldn't hurt my feelings, if it only took a few minutes to completely clean the comp. This will be a while, I have a ton of other nonsense going on right now.
  12. I prefer the Dawson to the TTI. I like the size of the Dawson, easier to grab on too. The Dawson is more durable, IMHO. I am not a fan of the locking pin on the TTI, or the MBX for that matter. ) I do like the MBX tubes though! I also like how the Dawson is installed, dropping on, instead of sliding on. That way you don't mess the spring getting twisted.
  13. I have one of the new STI DVC open guns that has the TiN coating on the barrel and comp, I wonder how hard the coating is! I was thinking turning the pressure way down to like 30psi, and using baking soda to start, then maybe work my way up from there.
  14. I am on call 24/7/365. I make time to do what is necessary to play this game. When I made the change to Limited I worked up a load for the gun and loaded in bulk when the time presented itself. Having a Dillion 650xl makes loading 500rds an hour a leisurely endeavor. I just bought a new DVC Open gun in 9major. While the gun runs great with major PF ammo, I am still trying to find a load that feels right. It all takes effort and time. Find it, if you want to play the game correctly, or stick to Production. (This is not meant to be condescending, but a reality check for this sport.)
  15. Limited mags and my story. When I first made the change to the 2011 platform, from a Glock, I ordered Brazos tuned mags before ever receiving the gun. (Which was a CRP Edge from Dawson, they were on sale.) These mags were 20 reloadable from day one and never let me down, ever. I did replace the guts after one full season with same brand guts, grams, and again no issues. I then started chasing that unicorn of a 21 reloadable mag by using the TTI guts. I had issues after about a half season, weak springs and follower tilt causing the dreaded salt shaker effect. Over the last off season I sent my mags back to Brazos explaining my issues. Bob suggested that I replace the guts with the Grams. Bob put new guts in the mags, checked the demensions and shipped them back to me, only charged me the cost of the guts. As far as me tuning stock STI mag tubes, I put Dawson pads and Grams guts in them and get 20 reloadable, but, they don't drop free as smoothly as my Brazos. But I haven't polished them or really tuned them as I don't use them very much. There ya go!
  16. You have to do both tuning the gun to the load and tuning the load to the gun. Let me get this straight, you want to run an Open gun, but you don't want all the work that goes with running an Open gun. I suggest you stick with Production.
  17. You will need some good mags, the STI 140mm mafs will come with STI's shitty follower and based pad. Just order the Dawson pads and Grams guts for those two mags that come with the gun. Then either buy a 4 pack from Brazos, or go wit the MBX mags.
  18. Yes. But that has nothing to do with the windage and elevation adjustments.
  19. Anybody rig up a bench top media blaster to clean their comp on an Open gun? If so, I've got questions for you. 1) What media material did you choose? 2) What pressure? I have an blaster that hasn't been in use for years that I can re-purpose for this dedicated task. Just looking for some insight from others. Thanks
