Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. I think that the sad part of those comments is that in our sport I have always had people wanting to help me become a better shooter.Weather they were GM's or D's.I've always tried to pass that on.I think that that is the most appealing thing about this sport, the people. Good luck, Tony Jones
  2. I thought the same. Are they porting the bottom of the comps now?lol.
  3. Again thanks to all the staff.Funnest match all year.Look forward to next year.Any hints on the theme?
  4. The title says it all. I'm interested in going to the 2011 Open Nationals and trying to figure out expenses. I did a search and found $250 and $500. Wondering how much the entry fee was for 2010? Thanks, Tony Jones
  5. I can try to get some from the shop. Tony Jones
  6. Saw it last night. Great story,I'm amazed the imagination that a person or even persons must have to write this movie. I would recommend watching this one in theater where you're not distracted by other things because you need to pay attention.
  7. I went with the regular sized aluminum grip but I have large hands. I use premade grip tape that I got from Manny USA, I think that it is trugrip. I had to relieve the back of the Dawson Ice magwell where it slides over the mainspring housing.
  8. Same thing happened to me last year.Went to reload and bang.I stuck around and ran the clip board the rest of the day.By the end of the day I felt better (not good) about what had happened, other shooters even shared there stories of mistakes. If I would of left I would of been stuck in my head and that can be a bad place to be.Everyone makes mistakes, lucky this one was safe.Keep your head up and stick around.
  9. I found an old thread that had a similar issue. He replaced the Mag release with an SVI but the grip had to be reamed out as it is larger than the STI. Also the shelf that the mag sits on is very different. I would assume that that would work on the new designed hole. http://speedshooter.com/images/SVIMC.jpg
  10. They told me that's how they make them now.
  11. I shoot an open 9major STI gun. Bought as a slide and frame kit and put together from there. I have been using SVI magazines from the beginning. I ordered two more magazines in January that arrived last week. The new SVI mags have a different hole design for the mag catch, they are oval shaped instead of rectangular and slightly smaller. The mags both have to be pushed very hard up to seat and will not drop free when the release is pushed.I removed the slide and made sure that they did not hit the ejector and dykemed the top of the mags to make sure that they didn't hit anything else. I removed the mag release and installed the magazine into the grip so that I can see through the hole. The notch on the mag is below the hole. I spoke with SVI today and they said that they check there mags in there grips before they ship. They no longer make plastic grips and there mag releases have changed. They said that there have been 3 or 4 calls about this but they have not had an STI grip and tried to figure it out. Question is how to modify. I could lower the top shelf of the mag release or open the hole in the mag tube. I hate to cut on these new tubes. I'm also concerned with causing feeding issues by changing either all though it wouldn't be much maybe .050 at best. Anyone had this problem before?
  12. Thanks Chris, now if you could only teach me how to beat you that be great! Tony
