Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Sorry that should have been an oal of 1.118. It wasn't a double charge I was watching very carefully and only made 3 rounds to test fire. I didn't think they could fire out of battery. That would make sense though the case looked like when it blew it was partially out due to where the case blow out was. I would think 4.8 would blow it either but a this point it is hard say for sure. Would the oal being .00& short cause that much of a pressure spike?
  2. So today I tried tight group for the first time. Thought I had my powder thrower (dillon 550b) set at 4.4gr turns out it was more like 4.6-4.8 and pushing a 180gr lead projectile. My oal was 1.180 which I normally run 1.120. When I fired my first round it blew out the mag, mag release and cracked the frame. It also blackened my hand a bit. It was fired out of my gen 4 Glock 35 with a wolf barrel. After looking at everything I guess with the shorter oal and the powder being more than I thought it over pressurized and blew out. The primer blew out but still had the firing pin dent. The other thought I had was maybe it was a weak case. The bottle says 4.7 is max and their max is normally I bit lower than true max. Thoughts? If you know where i can find a cheap 4th gen frame please let me know.
  3. Do you have a favorite unique load? One of the guys i shoot with has unique?
  4. They were .401 and we were crimping them really tight. I will try backing off the crimp and see what happens.
  5. I Just started loading lead with a couple of my buddies and have noticed that our rounds are key holing rather quickly( less than 100 rounds). The lead isn't moly coated But i didn't think we would run into leading that qucikly. We had three different loads 3.1, 3.4, 3.6 of clays 1.125 oal. I guess what I am asking is is that normal to lead that fast?
  6. I look forward to trying some of these out i am new to 45.
  7. I shoot 3.4 of regular clays behind 180gr lead of my sig 229.
  8. My friend is looking for a 226 elite to shoot in production. I was wondering if any one had shot one in production and if so how did it do?
  9. I guess I thought the X5 was a single action only. I'll have to look in to them. The x-5 all around is double / single.

My buddy shoots a Usp 40 in production and loves it.
  11. I am shooting lead $60/1000 primers 30/1000 brass was 22.5/1000 1lb clays was $20 and i will get 2000 out of that. That puts me at 13 cents a round. However i am a brass collecting fool so i get a lot of free brass do to the fact that a lot of people don't pick theirs up. That brings me down to 11 cents a round.
  12. Just out of curiosity Where can you find the software to calculate pressure?
  13. I will volunteer to take any unwanted Brass off of anyones hands : )
