Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Citric acid added to warm water. In an ultrasonic you most likely will not need to heat the water. I mix 8 tbl to a gallon of water to clean my brass and it does a great job. You can find the citric acid in health food stores for about $4 a pound.
  2. Lee list the max oal at 1.275 and the min at 1.2 for 230 grain using Clays. They also list the max load for clays at 4.0. Like the others I like an oal of 1.25 and this runs flawless for me, but you need to work something up that works in your gun. Why are you starting out your loads at above the max recomended amount? What reference books did you rely on to arrive at this load? I know your mentor told you his load but from what you stated he may have advised you in error as he had his father on his mind. I wouldn't load this round as you have listed! I would start out near the min and work up in increments to find something that was accurate and functioned well, but would not exceed the max load listed. Just my thoughts and if you choose to proceed your on your own.
  3. I just received notice and confirmation that my 45 plate is in. When I called Midway they said they had a total of 15 currently in stock, beyond the back orders. Get them quick they will not last long http://www.midwayusa.com/browse/BrowseProd...9786***16205***
  4. I just started reloading for both 9mm and 45 acp and was wondering this myself so I did the calculations to satisfy my curiosity. For 45 ACP I am saving just under 50% off the last WWB I purchased. Here are my numbers... 1000 Precision Delta 230 gn RN 114.00 or .114 per bullet 1 pound WST powder $17.99 for 7000 grains or .003 per grain @5.2gn per round =.016 (Local purchase no hazmat) Primers 25.00 per 1000 or .026 per primer (Local purchase no hazmat) Brass no cost as I pick up everything I can. Total cost per round 15.6 cents per round or $7.80 per box of 50. The last time I purchased WWB is was 29.89 per box of 100 so this is $14.94 per 50 and reloading then saves me $7.14 per box. Obviously the above figures do not count the cost of the initial set up, but I consider that part of starting any new hobby and did not factor it in. It has been said in prior posts that you really do not save any money with this hobby and I can attest that this is true. I went from shooting a couple of boxes a week to easily shooting 4 or more boxes in 45acp alone and my homemade rounds are more accurate than the WWB.
  5. I just picked up a #8 shell plate and a 10 pack of the bushings from Graf & Sons. It is alreay on it's way via Fed X. http://www.grafs.com/fc/browse.php?page=2&...amp;v=&s=az Can anyone tell me where I can find a #45 plate?
  6. [during a gunfight with the Bolivian police, Butch and Sundance run low on ammunition] Butch Cassidy: We're going to run out unless we can get to that mule and get some more. Sundance Kid: I'll go. Butch Cassidy: This is no time for bravery. I'll let ya! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Percy Garris: Can you hit anything? Sundance Kid: Sometimes.
  7. Try this. Go to your saved document and right click on it. Go to properties selection at the bottom and click on it, another window will open. At the bottom of this new window under "Attributes" you should be able to remove the check mark in the box that says "read only"
  8. Depends on how much work you want to put into the project. Chemicals are the fastest and work well. You mention that there is gravel in the bays. Depending on the depth you can rake out the gravel put a base of crushed limestone down then cover with black plastic sheeting, landscape cloth works better as it allows drainage. Once the plastic/fabric is down spread out the gravel again. However with 55,000 sf personally I would head for the chemicals.
  9. Starline Brass has it for $116.75 per 1000, but it is not nickle.
  10. Donald: Jaaaack? Jack: Yeah? Donald: Time out, OK? Jack: Time out? Donald: Time out. Jack: What do you mean, 'time out?' Donald: You're not gonna believe this. I was in a hurry when I left the cabin this morning, and, well, silly me, I got the wrong bullets. Robin Williams & Jerry Reed – The Survivors
