Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks Phil I know the part number for the VR80 O rings MF50-80 but I couldn't find them on the Advanced Tactical site under the VR80 shotgun parts.... But thank you for pointing me to their site. Appreciated. Looks like they are a Vitron O ring of some kind. If I knew the size I might be able to figure out a supplier / source. Thanks again Phil
  2. Speaking of spare parts, I need a Gas Block o ring number 66 on the basic parts list. Does anyone know where to get parts ? Benny Hill or Importer or ?? thanks.
  3. Trubl Thinking you got this backwards....bore diameters tend to be on the larger side, with trap, skeet and sporting clays guns.....mainly, they are what they today call backbored....oversize bores, compared to std bores. A wee bit softer shooting, and may pattern a wee bit better with larger shot sizes.....but I would prefer closer to nominal bore standard size, when shooting slugs....... I have patterned copious quantities of choke and combinations of slugs and shot shells and 00 buck.......and I find quite a lot of difference: 1. between different guns 2. and combinations of shotshell and choke, with each specific gun 3. almost always, the higher quality shot (higher antimony), shotshells, will produce better patterns (read tighter more uniform) than will the lower antimony shot loaded shotshells. Remington, for example....in their STS line of loads for trap, skeet, sporting clays etc, use higher antimony shot (harder and deforms less) than most anyone else....but you still want to check out patterns with possible choke choices. Most wally world shotshells on the low dollar end, like the federal for example, have lower antimony shot....harder to get the tighter patterns than with the harder shot. For my own personal serious use choice, I also prefer nickel plated 00 buck ...for patterns possible, and penetration.....chokes not withstanding. Or federal flitecontrol for long range. Paul
  4. Here's a Buds Gun Shop picture of what I am talking about: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product...oducts_id/60463 With the pictured buttstock, running red dots etc gives good alignment with the eye, or pull the buttstock and go with the aftermarket std camo buttstock, use the bead sight and your good that way.......either way. Receiver comes drilled and tapped. I have a couple of them with mag extension tubes, and like them. Price is good, especially considering not having to hunt down a high dollar barrel, and it is my choice in barrel lengths and sight system (bead on ramp) and good at 21 inches PLUS choke tubes letting me tune load performance. Paul
  5. Save yourself some money....you can buy the 21" vent rib turkey gun (current model870) cheap.....not much more than just the barrel. Switch out the buttstock, add your extension tube and your good to go. I did that on a couple of 21 vent ribs, and it makes a fine metal pump gun. I started pricing just the barrel....then found that they make the complete 870 21 inch as the turkey model, pretty cheap. If you are going to use a dot sight or some similar, then by all means....use the stock this turkey model comes with....it's a pistol grip stock, and has a higher cheek piece.....perfect alignment fo a optic or dot. Much better eye alignment than any standard stock I have found, for optic or dot. good way to go. Paul
  6. Mike.45 Ok...Inertia spring it is..... I should be changing the springs anyway, since these are two of the HK iron sighted entry guns ....and have seen service. Spring changes are in order all the way around anyway.....so, good time to do just that....and get a decent baseline with fresh springs. Both have pistol grips, but for me, the most consistent hold on the gun is the forward hand controlling / holding the gun and light application of the trigger finger hand, not actually trying to pull the gun in with both hands, but primarily with the forward forend hand. thanks Paul
  7. kurtm I noticed what you said, about the crap shoot as to what you get with the main tube spring. I had a couple (what I think are worn std springs to begin with) and switched to the lighter spring from Brownells, but.....I didn't try the standard spring a new, from Brownells........thats yet to be done. I spoke with Bevan ...Grams Engineering at length, about his guns, and approach to setting them up. Pretty common sense approach...a very nice guy who put considerable effort into setting up his own benelli's and those of some of the shooters. Very sensible. Thanks for the pointers Paul
  8. What I would like to run, but can't, is the B&P 1 oz slug at 1200 also, the Fiocchi 9 pellet at 1150 nickel 00, and the federal 3 dram 1 oz bird shot won't run. most of the standard 1 1/8 3 dram bird shot loads run. I bought quite a bit of the B&P slug, so if lightening a bolt carrier might do it, that would help. None of this noted above, would run in my Benelli M1, or the two H&K M1's I have now.....same gun, ....I know. All properly cleaned and lubed. I will give the bolt carrier lightening a try, see if that does it......can't hurt..... thanks guys... regards Paul
  9. I am on my third m-1 super 90....all are very well maintained and lubed. None of the three would shoot the true reduced recoil slugs or buckshot. Some of the bird loads at 1 1/8 oz....none of the 3 dram 1 oz will cycle. Tried the std springs and the reduced Wolfe springs....no change. The two models I have now, are two of the H&K models , not the later Benelli version with choke tubes. I just liked the one piece mag extension tubes and the iron sights, which give me a better field of view. Appreciate the input.... thanks Paul
  10. Wanting to know, those of you with the lightened super 90 bolt carriers for using low recoil ammo...... Is it Benny Hill who is still doing the lightening ...or who now and.... Once lightened, are you able to use the regular full power ammo without problem ....after lightening. Considering having it done, but I am not sure who is doing it now, nor how it generally affects operation with heavier than now recoil loads, after it is done... thanks Paul
  11. I too shot the LazerCast for years....I liked the old company but this new one, not so much. I think their prices are out of line i.e. won't be buying them any more. Paul
  12. Just wondering if any of you have tried the Berry's bullets (Utah) plated 10MM 200 gr. hollow point. It shoot well in my ten's, behind 13 gr. of AA#9 but I wondered about it's best intended use. I e mailed the company but haven't gotten anything back. Anyone used this bullet on any kind of game or....have any thoughts or comments on the bullet? thanks Paul
  13. Thanks Jon I appreciate it. I was wanting to test some Double Tap +P 147 Gold Dot which should run about 1140 out of the 5" Para barrel and I was anticipating more slide action than I got. I guess I should have realized from past experience, that the 147 (even heavy) tend to shoot soft and in fact they did when I tested the Double Tap today. It ran fine with the stock spring though I haven't really checked feeding characteristics except for smooth cycling. Accurate and shooting about 1" to 1 1/2" inch high at 25 yds., with the stock factory fixed sights. thanks again Jon regards Paul
  14. I have a Para-Ordnance P18-9 and I want to adjust my recoil spring # rate. But I just don't know: Is the Para P18-9 using a basic 1911 dimension recoil spring such that it's just a matter of picking my 1911 spring of choice by #age rate? Is the P18-9 basically running 1911 recoil springs or is there some slight difference (if any) except for the # rating. From what I understand, they come with factory 12# recoil spring but beyond that, I know not.what recoil spring should fit....in general. I don't have any other 1911 springs (anymore) to compare to. Would sure help to know. thanks Paul
  15. I use one of the G35 to 9mm Storm Lake conversion barrel.....very accurate and has given me no problems... Nice workmanship on the entire barrel and fit was just right. I wish they made them for some of the other guns I have....... Paul
