Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have a revolver at Pinnacle right now. He did another one for me last year. His turn around is slow, but he does quality work for a fair price. It's the old saying: good, fast or cheap- pick any two.
  2. I picked the SSR up from the smith this afternoon. Had him file the rear notch deeper as Johnmac suggested. Looks great now, going to try and hit the range with it tomorrow if I can get some 38's loaded up tonight.
  3. I had the same idea with taking the file to my existing blade. I see some guys are now making "U" notch rear sights for autos, I was hoping someone would chime in that there is a similar product available for revolvers. Are the replacement rear blades all identical in size, the only difference being the depth of the notch? If so, could I purchase the shallowest depth rear and have someone cut/file it into a "U" shape?
  4. I installed a fiber optic front sight on my SSR. The problem I am having is that, with proper sight alignment, the rear sight notch is not deep enough to see the entire FO dot. The dot is cut in half. This drives me crazy and I'd really like to figure out a fix for it. Is there a custom rear blade I can fit to my factory rear sight, or do I need a complete custom replacement sight?
  5. earplug, Why leather? Same reason I carry steel 1911's and revolvers and hunt with a lever gun No plastic guns in my safe (ok, a 22/45 but that doesn't count!)
  6. Dave, Thanks for the suggestion. I never heard of El Paso before. I love their Stongside Select, but it's not offered for N frames. I made another post prior to reading your's where I clarified the holster's intended purpose. I have no need for a match holster. I bought my 625 used and the deal included a CR Speed WSMII holster. Wish it were leather!
  7. Thanks. A couple manf's have products similar to the Galco Silhouette, but I'm not crazy about them. It seems like the front sight would be really prone to snag coming out of these, either on your pants or the bottom of the holster. The Phoenix is nice, but seems more like a field holster. I should have mentioned that I'm looking for something for occasional duty/concealed carry, so black leather is much preferred.
  8. Another newb question about my 5" 625. I am in search of a leather strong side belt holter for this piece. I'd prefer one with a thumb break. I've been searching around the web, doesn't seem to be a whole lot of leather out there for these. Right now I'm about settled on a FIST brand holster, but would like to hear from those with experience before I place an order. Maybe there's something better out there?
  9. Get 'em chamfered and switch bullet styles, copy!
  10. Greetings all, Brand new here, came across the site while googling for info on 625's. I've just picked up a 5" -8. So far I am having a blast with it. I was thrilled with the moon clips, that is until I loaded up a bunch of 200g SWC's. They sure don't drop in as easy as plated RN's do! So now I am thinking about having the charge holes chamfered. Will this make a big difference in loading the SWC's, or is it just money down the drain? Should I just switch to RN profile bullets and be done with it? Thanks!
