Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. Reach out to Tim......If enough interest then he might make some more.
  2. The Champions were small frame CZ 75s with comps and all in single action. Had the LPA adjustable rear and were very accurate. They are no longer being made and they very rarely come up for sale. The 40 is ok but with a high cap mag capacity of 16 or so does not lend itself to be good for our sport.....maybe steel challenge. Now if you find the 9mm version then you are in for a treat as the factory 26 rd mags can be trimmed to fit the 170mm length and is a dream to shoot.
  3. This is what I did and how much I paid. I have a LGS that has the M3500 for $482 in stock as of last week as well.
  4. Look at the other "Best Kept Secret...." thread started by GunfighterUK.......last picture in his first post shows the Benelli M2 handle I fit to the Stoeger. It can be done and is the closest thing to the factory you will get. The Stoeger's is smaller in diameter and it does index off a flat spot close the handle side. I worked the whole overall diameter down and then once it would fit I then made the center part of the shaft flat on the top side as a relief cut for the firing pin. Worked flawless so far.......
  5. From experience.....just found out the TT lifter is shorter than the Versamax's.......sent them an email to see if I could return it.
  6. The MXT is what I put on the Stoeger I have. It has an indention area for the Nordic barrel clamp and I believe I put a plus 5 on mine and then recently I added an extension from Shooter's Source.
  7. Threading the Nova extension on is not that hard of a job and I am not sure there is a way to make a "plug and play" without taking off the 1/4" or so that extends past the threads.
  8. If we are all honest and think about it......we have ALL seen EVERY brand of gun fail in a match. Clean your guns and maintain them. Don't buy a $500-$2000 shotgun and then expect match performance out of a box of shells that cost $4.50! The list as I see it....this is based on price and then support (parts and smiths) for the gun. CZ-cheap but not too many parts 1100-cheap, parts are plentiful, loading mousetrap will remove your thumb......gas system is weak if not maintained JM or Turkey 930-hit or miss-needs to be maintained Stoeger 3000(Maybe 3500)-strong inertia system.....easy to start running with just adding a Nova extension tube Versamax-more money, easy recoil, parts are becoming more plentiful and smiths are easy to find Beretta 1301-even more money.....add a tube....polish and you should be good to go Benelli-EVERYONE will tell you to buy these......but some budgets are beer and not wine Benelli Vinci-seen them run....parts are becoming available....more expensive base gun. These are just my thoughts...
  9. David and I were your ROs at the Rockcastle match in November. I run a Mossberg 930 that I converted from the Turkey model. I put the Stoeger together for David before this match. We actually sold a JM930 to build the Stoeger and I think it turned out well. Me personally I like the Mossberg, but I have had exceptionally good luck with my gun and feel comfortable maintaining it. I have practiced only slightly with the Stoeger and it seems to be a good budget minded option. I still am working on a couple things to make it more three gun friendly....mainly opening up the loading area. I do like the transition from receiver to forearm better on the Stoeger, but will say that the inertia system recoil is different than a 930 and would be something to get used to. If your JM is still working then I say stick with it......if you are having issues then a Stoeger would make a good option to look into.
  10. I made some recently. I try and only shoot Remington Nitro in matches so I started with some Gray Win AA hulls and loaded a Lee 1oz slug in backwards with a plastic shot card on top. Used a Ballistic Products roll crimp. I don't use AA in matches but they are as comparable to a Nitro as you can get. Made a dozen in about 15 minutes or so.
  11. Same thoughts here on longevity.....the gun is very simple and seems to be made well.
  12. I have one on mine and all I did was recess the nut and rubber washer on the inside of the forearm...no issues so far.
  13. The rounds I always use in 3 gun are Remington STS or Nitros and also Winchester AA. Outside of a match I will run anything and expect a hiccup or two now and then due to cheaper shells. Now as far as the Stoeger I built.....I have tried just about every brand and style of shell on the market and they all functioned without question. The loads I typically use are 1 1/8oz at 1300fps or 1oz at 1350pfs.
