Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Just got a new laptop and my copy of Quick Load won't load. Going to their web site I find I need to mail my CD to them and upgrade to a Vista compatible version. In the mean time, I need to run some loads. Wanting to find which Vihtavuori powders and weights are best suited for a 90 gr Sierra HPBT GameKing bullet and 100 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip bullet (.257 cal) in a 250 Savage. Can someone here run these for me? Thanks X
  2. Shortening 223 brass is what I do. Cheapest route for me. C&H makes a die for the Dillon trimmer that sizes and trims all in one operation. Insert 223 brass, pull handle and remove 300 Whisper brass. I save all my 223 that has flattened and dented necks for the making of Whisper brass. .
  3. Wanting to move front sight forward on a 16" barrel to give longer sight radius and long forend tube. I understand I'll have to use gas block in regular location. My barrel is .740 OD out where the FSB will go. Anyone have a source for such a thing? Thanks
  4. Here is a custom mold designed just for the 300 Whisper. Contrary to what many will tell you, the use of cast lead bullets will NOT plug up your gas port in an AR-15. They work just fine. This bullet design uses copper gas checks. You can order one online. Just match the online order/design form to the above image. Click on Online Bullet Design in upper left hand corner of this page: Mountain Man Molds I've ordered several molds from them. If you have trouble with the form, I'd be glad to help.
  5. A little bird told me this might be the owner. I've sent him a email. Thanks everyone
  6. It wasn't Jerry Miculek. He was parked right next to me. He was med height, small to med build with a mustache IIRC. Thanks
  7. There was a veteran shooter at the 2007 USPSA Multigun nationals in Tulsa with a truck bed/box similar to what I have crudely sketched below. I copied down the manufacturer of the box, but must have thrown it away. Does anyone here know the owner of this truck box? Thanks
  8. Is there a standard for dimensions for the common stair step rifle barricades? Anyone have drawings? Thanks X
  9. Looks like you had similar results as mine. 26.2 gr doesn't show any abnormal pressure signs in any of my ARs. I did some testing with LC83, LC87, LC 89 and LC01 brass and didn't find any great difference in velocity. I got best accuracy across several AR-15s with 26.2 gr H335 and Remington BR primers. Worst accuracy came with the CCI #41 primers. I plan to chrono this load throughout the winter into the heat of next summer to see if anything unusal pops up at the end of the temperature extremes. As it stands the Hornady 55gr FMJ bullet, any LC brass, 26.2 gr H335 and Rem BR primers is my "General Purpose" load.
