verla
Lengthening the forcing cones will reduce the recoil-i.e. reduces the angle that the shot column is forced into when the gun is fired. Not sure if porting will do anything noticeable as far as reducing recoil or muzzle flip.
wgj3
Gun that fits you best will have least "felt" recoil.
Naka16
Porting only makes cleaning harder. As stated, gun fit is key.
Shadyscott999
I can tell zero difference in a ported gun vs non ported except the ported gun is louder.
lefty o
porting of a shotgun barrel does virtually nothing for recoil reduction, it does however slightly help reduce muzzle rise, which is a help when shooting doubles. i have guns both with and without porting, and i have never found any difficulty in cleaning ported ones. And if you are shooting trap, it’s a lot louder for the shooters next to you.
Yeti
I have a ported sporting clays gun, but the hunting/skeet/trap guns are not. Hard to tell a difference other than being louder. Maybe it makes a difference on quick second shot, but I can't say for certain. Might help more when using the fast steel goose loads, but I would never subject my hunting partners (or me) to that. No additional ported shotgun barrels in my future.
