What is the difference between a level II match and a level III match. I can't seem to find anything on it. Either I am not seeing or not looking in the right place.

Appendix A1 of the rule book lists the different requirements,.

The biggest difference, from memory, is that at a level 3, all of the match staff has to be certified ROs or CROs, and  have a Range Master.

Ok thanks. Didn't know if it was more rounds shot more stages difficulty etc. was talking with a buddy about it and didn't know thanks.

In order to go through the effort of making sure you have a good staff, the match director usually puts on bigger matches.

If I know I have all certified ROs on every stage that can turn shooters over in 3 minutes or less (they are organized, make sure the stages get reset quickly....) It will allow for more technical, or even a circus sort of stage with multiple swingers, bobbers, drop turners, etc.  Its not a guarantee of stages like that, but without experienced and qualified staff a stage like that will be a backup for the match and often causes reshoots as the props aren't always set perfectly.

Typically, Area Matches and National level matches are Level 3.  State and smaller matches are level II.

National matches are Level 4.

Area matches are Level 3.

Sectional, State and some Special matches are Level 2.

Local matches are Level 1.

USPSA (nor any other Region, for that matter) has the authority to run a Level 4 match.  Level 4 and 5 matches are International matches and can only be approved by IPSC.

Just to avoid confusion, for USPSA, there is no level IV (or higher) match:

From Ammendix A:

USPSA Match Levels
Level I — Club matches conducted on a scheduled basis throughout the year.

Level II — Sectional or State matches conducted on an annual basis.
Level III — Annual championship matches conducted by USPSA Areas (1 - 8).

Nationals — Annual USPSA championship matches.
