jeremy kemlo
I live in California so my M&p mags have the large plastic base to them. Is it legal to file down the size of the base pad so that it does not stick out as far and still be legal for production?
Kraj
Yeah. Since you can change the base pads your free to alter the base pads as long as you still fit the box and make weight.
echotango
Yes, the duckbill sucks. Just trim it off.
Sarge
This did not used to be the case. My first run at production was with an M&P. I got clear guidance from on high that said the huge base pads could not be trimmed. I was required to buy M&P compact base pads instead.
echotango
So an aftermarket pad(incl s&w) but not a trimmed one? Perhaps I'm wrong. Mine are trimmed.

Since I live in California I do not have the option of putting the compact base pads on. I have the 10 round magazine's that have that 1 inch plastic base. You said that this did not used to be the case. So just to confirm before I start grinding. It is OK now to grind them down?
jeremy kemlo
Official answer is yes, they can be modified. The production rules don't cover magazines much, and don't address basepads. The gun must make weight and fit in the box. Troy
