calebj06
So it's a nice steady rain right now and I'm on my way to a uspsa match!! Any tips for a first time rain shooter? i cleaned and oiled the glock nice and heavy this morning. Stopped by the range on my way and confirmed zero. I also had an anti fog cleaning wipe so I hit my red dot and my glasses before I left. Extra clothes and shoes imbrella waterproof jacket This is should be loads of fun! Hi-Power Jack
Just keep your sight and eyeglasses dry at start of COF's.
nbot
Good rain gear is critical. Keeping yourself dry will make your shooting mentality a lot better. Have gear to clean your mags too, as that can cause some serious failures.
fishbone928
If your glasses continue fogging throughout the day, angle the lenses to allow air flow while maintaining protection. Taking off your hat helps with this, too.

Do you know if this is safe for red dots? Or does it create unwanted glare?

Raider26
make sure to bring a mag brush. when it gets sloppy out, especially at our club you end up getting tons of mud and sand in the mags
IHAVEGAS
Soaked hands got cold after a couple stages yesterday & it is amazing how much that hampers dexterity. In winter I have mittens in the range bag, mittens and a dry towel when not pasting/shooting would have allowed me to keep my fingers working normally. Mcfoto
Greetings from soggy Western Oregon where it's pretty much wet from October to April. My wet weather gear includes: a couple hand towels a plastic garbage bag to drape over the range bag a quart-size ziplock to put over the gun in holster when resetting/ taping etc. for my hands, I use mechanics glove one size too small for a firm fit as for clothing, layer up as the temperature goes down, water-proof outer with flannel inner layers I don't break down my mags mid-match - just towel them off during reload. When I get home, I go through everything and CLA.
perttime
Match organizers have a problem with paper targets. European IPSC matches have been using waterproof targets from this Norwegian company: https://www.facebook.com/NordicTarget-As-901650819958337/ I believe they can do more styles than the official IPSC diamond. The targets are not cheap, but using them is easy, and certainly cheaper than replacing soaked targets all the time. Not sure if anyone stocks their targets in USA
Water63
Shot an ICORE match in the sleet a week ago. That stunk lol. Live and learn I finished well but it wasn't fun.
Tampa-XD45
Ditto on covering your range bag. You have no idea how much stuff is in your bag until it all gets soaked and takes 3 days to dry out. Also, use water repellent spray on your bags & gun cases: https://www.amazon.com/Kiwi-Camp-Heavy-Water-Repellent/dp/B00QVL2L5E

Any tips for a first time rain shooter? I have used my ankle high gore-tex hiking boots while shooting in the rain/mud and found them quite comfortable and with good traction in that environment.
