Rolex
Any thoughts on the DVC open comp? RE: is it more suited for the 38s case. Can it be made to work properly with the 9mm case. I am looking to buy the DVC Monday. And that comp looks awfully big for the gas that a 9mm can produce. I know it's going to come down to powder and bullet choices in the end, and possibly a 90 degree mount. Who has one in 9mm and what have you experienced. Thanks
shooterDrew
I have a dvc 9mm. It's my first and only open gun, so my experience is not extensive. I'm very happy with it. I have primarily shot 7.0 gr of AC under a coated lead 125 (about 6,000 rounds). Recently I tried some 115gr MG JHPs and bumped the charge to 7.5. Gun stayed flatter and I thought it was a big improvement! Ive got to assume that additional dose of gas helped the comp work a little better off as it should. Aircooled6racer
Hello: Use HS-6 with a 115 grain bullet and that will give enough gas to help it shoot flatter. Thanks, Eric
Rolex
Thanks all- got another tip to change to a 90 degree mount. to help brass clear the bottom of the stock mount.
shooterDrew
Thanks all- got another tip to change to a 90 degree mount. to help brass clear the bottom of the stock mount.Definitely, or another option is to switch to a micro dot. I scrapped the C-more and went with a Leupold Deltapoint Pro in a cheely mount and have had zero issues with ejection. Rolex
Eric, I have HS6, CFE, Auto Comp- Silhouette on and on I will be doing the HS6- as my friend uses this in his open gun.
Gooldylocks
8.6-9.1 of HS6 with a 115 JHP at 1.155-1.165 depending on your gun. The DVC shoots very soft in my opinion. I load 8.9 of HS6 with a 115gr Everglades JHP V2 at 1.165. That load feels pretty sweet out of every gun I have tried it in (including my buddy's DVC). Rolex
Going To use 124JHP/CMJ- because I have 10,000 of them!
gerritm
8.2gr of HS-6 1.15-1.16 OAL with a Precision Delta 124JHP runs pretty flat and very controlled in my 9mm DVC. About 170PF. I have had no problems with the stock mount with the C-More on it. Have had no reason to change. gerritm

Hello: You are not the only one looking for a Tru Bor. I wonder if STI will bring out another plain open pistol for those that want a cheaper pistol to get into open with? I am sure they would sell lots of a Tru Bor type pistol that could be modified by it's owner as the get better or just need to grind off that place that rubs you the wrong way. A Tru Bor is a fun pistol to play with if you want to mill on them or change things up with different comps etc. I should have kept one or three. Make plans to keep your comp lead-free if you're using CMJ's, because they still have exposed lead bases. The JHP's are The Way to go, IMHO. Rolex
No lead base. Jack all are fully covered. So I guess I need to say full metal jacket for the round nose. Pick up the DVC today, going to clean it. Oil it up. And stop by the range to test it.
Aircooled6racer
Hello: I use JHP's for my pistols for matches. I have been using coated bullets for practice. Have fun with your new pistol and shoot it a lot. Thanks, Eric
accu9
The difference in gas volume between 9mm and .38 is small, especially in respect to the DVC's comp.. Try 10.5gr of AA#7 with a 115gr and let me know if you feel the 9mm cannot produce enough gas for the DVC comp .
Rolex
Well- got the DVC today- hit the range for a really quick test- had some HS6 8.2gr and PD 124/125 JHP-. Cmore was a little to the right- other than that all 50 rounds hit the A zone at 15 yards- not one FTE/FTF- I think because of the STI mags the oal needs to come down to 1.160- these where long at 1.169- they all fed fine- just looks like the bullet was almost touching the front of the mag? Now ill have to hit the chrono- with the HS6- CFE- and maybe AC. Edited May 11, 2017 by Rolex

And in my opinion, HS6 blows them out of the water as far as feel and dot tracking. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
