billdozer
I'm disassembling my svi to get refinished. i went remove the sear/disco pin, and it appears to be staked. Any recommendations besides the most obvious?
pjb45
Who stakes a sear pin? WOW
CHA-LEE
Are you sure that the sear pin simply isn't engaging the right side safety? Some sear pin's are setup that way where the right side safety engages the end of the pin. Check that out before you bust out the power tools to "fix" something that isn't broken. billdozer
No, it's stripped except for the sear and disconnector.
BigGabe
The sear pin isn't staked on my SV. If you don't feel comfortable drifting it out call SV and ask if they stake the pins in sometimes
shootingchef
Please post a photo of this! None of my SV's are staked anywhere.
billdozer
It wasnt staked, i guess. The hole on one side of the frame was a press fit on the pin. I finally got it out. The pin was .0005 bigger than the hole.
BeerBaron
um yeah I was going to say you know they only come out (and go in) one way. with muzzle away from you the pin will come out the left side of the gun. re-insert from that same side. same goes for the hammer pin. they both have a small head on them (and a corresponding recess in the frame hole) so that they are retained by the left side safety. this is so that if you were running a single sided safety they won't walk out. it also allows the ambi safety designs where the right safety just has a thin 'leg' that doesn't cover the pin at all times. billdozer
Yes, I'm aware that they have a head on one side and only come out one way. This pin was press fit. The frame hole was like. 0005 smaller than pin
