zzt
All right. The comp on my Open gun started to come loose again and I've had it. I want to have set screws installed. The question is which way. My initial thinking is to have two holes drilled and threaded into the comp, at the bottom of the barrel about 30 degrees apart. Then reinstall the comp with 272, make sure it is aligned perfectly, and let it set up. Once cured, run a drill sized to just fit in the threaded holes without cutting the threads, then spot the threads on the barrel so the set screws have something they can rest in an keep the comp from turning, even if it does get to hot again. I'd use 8x32 set screws. Any of you have a better way?
Bill H
Don't use screws. Clean everything completely then spray or apply loctite primer then put on with red loctite. The primer is the important part.
Aircooled6racer
Hello: I just use one 6-32 setscrew in the bottom. I drill and tap the comp and drill into the barrel a little to locate the comp on it in the correct position. Never had a problem with it clocking after that. Thanks, Eric
