Broski
Need some help deciding where to start on my reloading journey. This will be for my g17 open gun that has been running minor pf. Gimme some recommendations for components guys.
Dr Mitch
Blue Bullets. Titegroup. Small primers made by Wolf, Tula, or CCI.

Specifically CCI 500 SPP. Then work up an AutoComp load with 115gr loads (5.6gr will probably get 130pf) then up 6.5gr to see if 150pf activates the comp and stabilizes the dot better for minor PF. Dink
I would suggest softer primers like winchester or federal so your loads will run in guns with light springs. I like sns coated bullets or extreme plated ones. Titegroup works well for my minor loads. I use CPE pistol for 9mm major.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Dink
Just reread your post. Didnt notice you were doing a major load. I use 7.6 gr of CFE pistol with Montana Gold HP. This gives me about 1410fps with 124gr bullet. 175 power factor. My comp does not work until PF gets over 174. Gimme some recommendations for components Is your chamber fully supported? (If not, I wouldn't load to Major). Are you trying to get to Major, or Minor? Any primers and cases. What powder and bullets do you have on hand? (MG & PD JHP's are good). Powder is HS6 and WAC.

It only means that it works better with your load at that PF. Comps work at all PFs because they divert gas at all PFs. Unless the comp has valves that only allow gas to vent at some magical PF. They are a little trickier to load. Jacketed or plated are much more forgiving. Plus if you have a compensator on the gun the coated lead bullets will lead up the compensator. For starting out I would look for a much more forgiving powder than titegroup as well. Titegroup is a very hot powder. If your have the slightest bit of mistake in powder charge it could be catastrophic. Are you shooting minor or major with it? I would consider trying a powder like cfe pistol or autocomp. They are much slower burning so they will feed the compensator better and also be much more forgiving. As for primers I'd look for federals. Glocks with lightened striker springs hate heavy primers. Federals are near impossible to find so maybe give Winchester a try. Edited April 25, 2017 by Bullets
Dink
Really? I would have never guessed that. I thought some kind of magic happened at a certain pf. Methinks you may have taken me too literally.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

Steve RA
I use Tula SRPs in 9mm, .45ACP and 223/5.56 and have never had a misfire in many rounds of each. Since they are not presently available it's sort of a moot point.
