Mulkey
I was thinking about having my versamax ported but don't know if it would put me in open class. And is there any cons to having it done.
amccallister
A ported barrel will definitely put you in open division.
TonytheTiger
Ported shotgun's are great for when you need more noise without the hassle of a performance increase. And you'll be in open.
Flatland Shooter
Depending on what shells you use, you may or may not see any benefit. Heavier loads may see a decrease in muzzle movement but lighter loads probably will not. I shoot open with the lightest loads my gun will cycle reliably. No ports needed. No real cons to porting except with that barrel you will be stuck in open. If you have an extra barrel, give it a try.
