MikieM
Precision Delta, 124 grain, JHP, for me. A good discount when ordering 2 thousand, and the accuracy is as good as it needs be.

Try shooting a round into water jugs and see how many it will penetrate through without ever expanding. Hint: you're gonna need several more than 4! I didn't know we were talking about defense loads. You must have clicked on the wrong topic.

Hi-Power Jack
No, I don't reload defense loads - I'm old fashioned and still stick with Massad Ayoob's (probably incorrect) theory that reloads open you up to possible civil legal suits. I WAS looking for 9mm bullets just as good as, but cheaper than, MG, and people mentioned some brands (Mostly PD), but you brought up a GREAT point - you found the bullet that had "it all" - accurate, inexpensive AND is very good at self defense loads ... Nothing wrong with that - makes a LOT of sense to me. Thanks for the great info
SOA1911
Indeed, the TJ Conovera 124 Gr. JHP looks very, very similar to the former contracted RMR 124 Gr. JHP. Since they are .356" diameter bullets, I may have try some for my .38 Super Auto loads (normally use the Hornady HAP bullet).

JHP made for them by MG. Since RMR has their own bullet now could be they'll discontinue the contract bullet they sell for $17 more. The TJ Conovera price is better and the bullet is very accurate. That may have been me here. I've been loading the TJC 124gr in 9mm subsonic and their 95gr in .380 just a tiny bit slower. I'd love to shoot them into jugs of water to see how/if they open up, but I don't have convenient access to a range that allows that kind of stuff. pinbot
@ Hi-Power Jack, I made the same assumption until I realized RMR has 2 listings for 124gr JHP TJ's -$108/1k RMR - $116/1k (contracted) RMR - $99/1k (made by RMR)
Hi-Power Jack
True, I noticed that. BUT, the PD's are $83/1K ....
njl
One thing I will add for the benefit of anyone who might be considering them. The TJC 124gr JHP are listed on their web site as .356. Using two calipers (one digital, one analog) and my digital micrometer, I've not found one larger than .3555. .3552-.3555 seems to be the typical range. njl
1 hour ago, 57K said: njl, I have water tested the 124 gr. RMR JHP contract bullet and they definitely expand. They also penetrated pretty well but the jacket and core separate, but in the same jug which isn't much of an issue. I have since loaded them to a lower velocity of 1148 FPS, just haven't water tested at the lower velocity yet. But ES is only 10 with SD of only 3 with 5.8 grs. of Silhouette and a CCI500 @ 1.122"/28.5mm. Really accurate! Right, but I'm loading them even weaker than your load. I just checked my log book. From the G17, my load with this bullet did right about 1100fps. From the G43, I lose 100fps and am only at right about 1000fps. So, I'm curious if they'd open up much at 1000fps, or if I need to bump up the load a bit if I want to keep using these as a defensive load.
