K.C. shoots 147 major but he is the only one I know of shooting it with regularity. I've loaded some up to play with after talking to him about it. I used plated bullets but coated should be roughly the same. 7.0gr of 3n38, 147 plated HP, CCI SR primer @ 1.165OAL. Avg velocity for me was around 1170fps. Recoil pulse and sound is different for sure but very soft in the hand. 5" barrel with 3 small holes.

Muneki Samejima uses 147 FP Berrys for 9 Major

I shot his load thru his gun and mine. It is a nice load. If I remember correctly, it is with cfe.

I've been doing some experimenting with 135 x-treme HP bullets that I had lying around.

8.15 grains of 3n38 at 1.2" got 168 from a 4.5" bbl with 4 small bbl holes and 169 in a 4.5" bbl with no holes.

9.4 grains of AA7 got about the same velocity.

Loads are very accurate and much softer to shoot than 124/125 bullets.

I didnt think AA7 was good to use in 9mm?? I was thinking more like WAC

Its on the very slow end like 3n38, n105, sp2, etc.  Many seem to be using WAC without issue.  I like to play it safe.  The slower, the better/safer in 9 major, IMHO.

The only thing I didn't like about AA7 was that it is a little dirty.  It's so slow that it doesn't have a complete burn, according to another member who ran my 124/125 load through quickload.  With a much smaller charge and the fact that the bullet is in the barrel a touch longer, it seems to be a lot cleaner with the 135's in my limited testing so far.

Should be a nice load.  It'll be soft but that should be enough powder to still make some gas for the comp.

Here is load info for 147 and 124.  I just received some 135 RN and 145 RN from Bayou and some 135 TC and 147 RN from Blue bullets.  I will work on loads for these and report back.

Full-length barrel with 3 small holes.

Berry 147 RN - 6.49gn HS6 - 1.200" - 9mm WIN - 1179.3fps  -173.4PF

Berry 147 RN - 7.2gn 3n38 - 1.230" - 9mm WIN - 1172.7fps -172.4PF

Berry 147 RN - 8.02gn AA7 - 1.230" - 9mm WIN - 1174fps   -172.6PF  (this is an interesting load because is has the same amount of gas as 124 HS6 but lower pressure and softer)

Berrys round nose bullet profile is nice in that you can load much longer than typical bullets.

MG 124 JHP- 8.06gn HS6 - 1.170" - 9mm WIN - 1379.5fps - 171.1PF

Berry 24 RNTP - 8.14gn HS6 - 1.199" - 9mm WIN - 1383.2fps  -171.5PF
