12 MOA Dot, to big?

Whats the ideal dot, and at what size would you say you've gone to far for PCC?

I have an older Aimpoint T1, which I believe is a 2MOA, and it works quite well for these old eyes.  If I feel like I need a bigger dot, I turn the brightness up a tad.

When I started shooting my PCC I was using a 3 MOA. There were times in the bright sunlight that it was hard to see, so I changed it out for a 8 MOA C-More that I really like. Easy and fast to pick up and good for all the distances we shoot.

Have you had any experience with a 12 MOA?

I've never used a 12.

I use an 8 MOA. The 3 did not stand out enough. I can turn it down for a close up target. I would think 8 would be to large fr some shots.

I have looked thru a 12moa and for USPSA it would be OK, but for 3-gun or all steel matches it would be way too big at distance on small targets. 12" @ 100 yards would cover  most targets. Paper no problem. I use a 6moa and even with the bright Texas sun it is plenty big/bright enough and small enough for those steels.

I use the 12 minute and really enjoy it even over the 8.  Tied the 3 and 8 but felt wanting.  Now with the 12 minute I pick up the dot quicker and have never lost it.  I also like the way it stands out in the bright sunshine.

With my PCC I started off with a 6 MOA dot (Cmore slideride),  Thinking I could do better I moved to an 8 MOA dot.  End result I found that I did better with a 4 MOA dot, especially with classifiers that had a little bit of distance to the targets.

 

I do not have a 12 MOA dot but did try a 16 MOA dot for Steel Challenge.  That sucker is huge and it just did not work for me.

Ended up ordering the 12MOA dot cause there was a good deal on it, and once I realized you could swap out the diodes in them it made the decision a lot easier.

I use a 12 on my rimfire rifle and 16 on my pistol.  Great for steel challange and rimfire challange.  I think for my PCC I may try 8.

I shot a 13 on my pistol recently at a match and it was a little to big. On the far targets with hard cover or NS's the dot was basically covering all of the avaible target. Would go to a 3 MOA.

I was using a 8moa on my C-More and changed just tonight to a 4moa.... I can still pick it up no problem. And was able to to print 1" groups at 25yds.

My original thought was to use the same size dot as in my Open guns (6 MOA) but keep in mind the distance from your eye to the Cmore  on a PCC is much less.  With the reduced distance, the smaller 4 MOA dot appears to be just as large as the bigger 6 MOA dot on the pistol.

That was my thought with an eye relief of 8" to 10" and not 20"

I have a 16 moa dot on my pcc.  it's really not that much bigger.

I like 2 moa. 12 is way too big if you have matches with longer shots.

2 MOA with a T1.... 4 MOA max if using an older T1.   Never had a problem in any light conditions
