CCWs - data question

Hi Everyone,

So, I was debating guns on FB with a quasi-anti-gunner and he asked what I thought was "reasonable" for EDC. Now, obviously, there's a legislation trap there, but I posited that most CCW carriers probably carry a single gun and 16-53 rounds.
I came by that number by figuring that most people would carry at least a single spare mag, especially for the "pocket" guns and many carry 2.

Now I'm curious to hear from other CCWs as to what your actual EDC is.

Thanks!

Depending on what I'm doing or wearing, I carry either a Kahr CW380 with 1 spare mag (6+1+6), S&W Shield 9 w/ 1 or 2 spares (7+1+7 or 14), or S&W M&P40c w/ a spare (10+1+10). Sometimes I might have the Kahr as a backup for either of the other two.

I wear shorts 10-11 months of the year and work from home so I pocket carry a SW Bodyguard 380 with a magguts spring kit for 7+1 but sometimes carry an FNS9c 12+1. I don't carry any extra mags. If I buy something on CL I carry my full-size FNS9 17+1 with two extra mags in my pocket.

Taurus PT738, no extra mags .... 6 + 1 is plenty.  Can't ever imagine a scenario where I'd need more than 7 rds .... having said that:

when the Zombie Apocalypses hits and I need to take down herds of Walkers with head shots from a dead run one-handed I'll be carrying my Sig MPX ... with my STI, CZ Shadow and every mag pouch I own on my belt .... oh and I'll probably be toting around my M2 & M4 while that ammo lasts ....

Sig or CZ with 15+1 and an extra 17 round mag most of the time. Hot weather casual Walther PPS with 7+1 and an extra 8 round mag. I live in a high crime area with lots of gang activity.

Usually a CZ P07 in .40 S&W.  Thirteen in the gun, a seventeen round magazine in my left front pants pocket and two more seventeen round magazines in a pouch in my left cargo pocket.

Occasionally (road trips with my wife, who carries a CZ 75 Compact in 9MM) I carry my CZ 75 Compact.  Fifteen rounds in the gun, an 18 round magazine in my left front pants pocket and two more 18 round magazines in a pouch in my left cargo pants pocket.  On a road trip I also carry a couple extra double magazine pouches in the car in the "pockets" on the bottom of the doors.

Shield most of time here in the hot/humid south east. But I have 8 in the gun with two 8 round reloads. Now I'm carrying a colt commander with 10 in the gun and two 9 round reloads and if I decide to go a little bigger I will carry my P07 with 16 in the gun with one 15 round reload.

The way I look at spare mags is it's cheap insurance. Mr. Murphy is always around the corner, and if I have to tap rack bang or ditch a mag due to a double feed I want another mag with me.

When wearing light clothes Keltec P3AT in 380 in my pocket in Desatis holster. Have not found anything more discrete than this for the same PF. With regards to the Zombie Apocalypse I will stick to my open gun and FN-FAL.

I carry a full size CCW and at least one extra mag. I'm retired LEO, and have seen too many of my colleagues carry small 5 shot revolvers and had one run dry in a shooting during a confrontation with a guy who he had arrested prior. Guy had a semi auto full size and they both ran dry. Needless to say it didn't turn out well for my colleague and his wife. They survived but both had a few more holes in them then the bad guy did who took only one to the arm and kept shooting them. Incident was at night after leaving a restaurant and he could not see his front sight. Needless to say we all had to rethink our CCW plan. Most of the time I have 17 in my carry and two extra 17 round mags. Plus this day and age with these crazy active shooters, I think everyone needs to carry a combat capable weapon system with extra mag(s).

Bingo

The world has changed.

A 5 - 7 round gun with no extra mag  used to be   minimally  adequate.

Not no more.

Rules of engagement have changed, Gentlemen - got to step up the firepower  ....

When I'm out and about alone it's my M&P Shield, +1 extra Mag. When I've got my kids with me (2 yr and 4 Mo) I have FNS in the super secret pocket in the Diaper Bag.

The down side of carrying in Florida is I wind up wearing shorts and a t-shirt 90% of the time. So it's hard to conceal a full size on your person. So I like to keep something in my car, and in the diaper bag when I;m out with the family.

normal edc equates to a dan wesson specialist. 10 +1 with 2 spare magazines. , dress clothes = xds .45 with 2 spares, enemy territory = either the specialist or the 15 +1 sig .... usually the d wesson  .....
